I was looking for a tubular webbing, like those used for climbers, but with 5mm to use as sliding rope. I think it would be more resistant to abrasion than dyneema ropes.
btw, I've been using a friction ring a friend made for me on a lathe with nylon and it's working fine.

Not sure what you mean.
For my depower rope I use sleeving,
Dyneema core 4mm and the sleeve from a 5 or 6 mm polyester rope.
It prevents the core from abrasion and holds better in the cleat.
Like normal sailing rope.
Just takes practice to insert the core splice in the sleeving, stitch it etc.

Pretty sure he is talking about a slider rope on a harness. I think any 1/4” or so poly double braid would work ok It will stretch a bit but that may not bother you.

yep... sorry but it's was out of the thread's original subject
I've been using stealth's surf spreader bar and already replaced the original rope with other dyneema cables but it does not last very long using with that metal ring.
I was taking a look in the new Ion C-bar 3.0 and they use a kind of strap instead of a rope. Looks like the same webbing tubular tape used for climbing but I can't fine in small thickness (6/7mm)
Ok... back to the thread or the title should be changed to "lines/ropes"

Ah ok if you are looking for a tubular webbing, dyneema tubular webbing can be found in shipchandlers ( to cover ropes )*
usually comes in 8 - 10mm outside diameter and holds several tons.

A hook or shackle with a wheel will greatly increase the life of a slider rope. Normal dyneema with a semi redundant dyneema insert in the core works well with a wheel. I have used 4mm in 4mm and 3mm in 5mm, both lasted pretty well with a wheel.

any updates on the lines? i have some north bars i'd like to refresh, i have all the safety, trim lines, just unsure what is best for flying lines, i've been looking at Jeely on aliexpress too, but communication is not great and not helped my me not really knowing what i'm talking about.
i have a couple of questions for anyone that knows...
what is the product name of the sleeving used on north/duotone lines ?
whats the difference in 8,12,16 strand
what line cannot be spliced?
cheers

You ONLY want 12 strand. 4 strand, and 8 strand can not be spliced. 16 strand is typically a braided woven outer core with an inner core that is straight. Just make sure when you buy the line that you're getting dyneema or spectra of the correct dimensino for the lines that you want to make and also make sure it's 12 strand. Another option is q-power which is my favorite way to make kite lines but then you commit to making figure 8 knots instead of splicing and have to figure out how you want to fit it through the safety since a knotted line won't go through a safety. You don't want to copy what they are doing with the lines at north or duotone just get some actual dyneema or spectra, it will be stronger and last longer than the OEM lines. I usually just buy mine on ebay. It all comes from china but I hate buying direct from china because then it gets on the boat and might take 6 months to get here. I'd rather buy from a middle man that resells dyneema on ebay and pay a little extra.
Make sure you make a new topic for the stuff about harnesses or chicken lines since this one is about flying lines.

You can get 16 strand spliceable kite line as well as 12 strand, eg Marlow. For most lines in kitesurfing 12 strand gives you the optimum core dia for ease of splicing with sufficient grip. However, at the lower diameters some prefer 16 strand. Spliceable fishing line, useful for bridle repair, seems to be mostly available in 16 strand, for example. At least that is my experience.
Not sure which sleeving is used by north, but other sleeving is available? Maybe consider splicing and use wear pigs instead of sleeving?

i just meant the type they supply with 2018+ bars, they are just sleeved and stitched, easier to do, especially when doing quite a few.
