^^ Only easier to do if you have sowing gear with appropriate foot and guide?
Sown ends create a catch point and extra bulk which makes them unsuitable for some flagging systems.
My preference is dyneema to dyneema contact but increased size for contact point at the larks head. Very little wear providing knot is not moving enough to generate heat. But have not seen any real scientific data on this subject. Have seen sleeving materials wear faster than dyneema which presents a failure for a reasonable inspection regime - that last bit sounds way too anal for kitesurfing………….
PS Personally I use 2.5mm wear pigs: loops at both ends, Brummell splice full bury no stitches, add very short tied and sown knot loop as required. Colour coded with tape, may need ~ 10mm of trim adjust for knot loop! Others have different preferences and mine is not minimum drag for racing as this configuration is just over 300mm long. Quick to make!
For the fly lines I don’t Brummell, I just use a full bury and a few loose hand sown stitches. But each to their own!!
