Last Time I tried a Slider Version on my harness,(Just for Fun)

Foil kiting only

I did Not like the Slider, but I really liked the Rope...

So I Just added another Knot.... Really Liked this!!



What is the best Type of knot for a 5mm Dynema rope?
New dyneema Rope is pretty slippery.

1. To Connect the Rope ends
2. To stop the QR from sliding....

Just splice the ends into eachother so the whole thing is one loop. Maybe you can use a thinner diameter of dyneema to comply to the recommended burry length.

The middle knot to hold the QR looks good to me!

The right-hand knot on the picture would be better tied as a water knot. The way you tied it can "roll" itself undone.

Alpine butterfly is the usual secure loop forming knot which can be done without access to rope ends. But your rope in pic is too short to have a-butterfly.

If you also want to tie the tails with loop on single knot so it is not directly for you. Alpine butterfly bend exists but the loop is replaced by rope ends.

Also if you already have a slider rope as in picture you could add attachment to it with Prusik knot with external loop line. On pull from loop it should not slide but then on non-loaded knot you can hand slide it.

looks good! No need to splice 5mm dyneema. Doesn't matter which knot you use, as you are overstrength by several tons.

In other applications, always use figure 8 joins and figure 8 loops as it stresses the line the least, but here I think use whatever you like.

With plain dynema, pretty much any knot will pull through if sufficiently loaded. This, I think, will be the issue, rather than the knot weakening the line.
To overcome this, I would use a line with a dynema core and polyester cover or even just a plain polyester braid line (@5mm you should get 500kg plus). Knots should hold in these ok.If you worried about strength just go up a size - a larger diameter will be kinder to the webbing loops on your harness.
Personally for joining the ends I’d go for a double fisherman’s (https://www.animatedknots.com/double-fi ... -bend-knot). I guess the overhand knot that you have shown for the QR is ok but not very elegant. It might move around a bit and wear the line?
Here is a possible alternative (using double fisherman’s) [ignore the loop in the end of the green line - it just a bit I had lying around] Or even But not sure how the shackle will take the sideways loading? Probably of for foiling.

Are you dead set on not using a spreader bar? Lots of folk (myself included) cut off the hook and connect to a rope loop attached to the center of the spreader. Similar, in some ways, to what you have??

I will get These Liros Regatta 2000.... Making a Knot with them ist super simple....

Also will try the Waterknot and the fishermans....

This is how I'd do it. 8 knots in the ends and alpine butterfly in the middle. Quite easy to adjust to middle then tighten and you have rock solid attachment.

My understanding is a water knot (in my climbing days we called it a tape knot) is specifically for joining ends of tape or webbing. I’ve never heard of it being used on rope/line. Maybe it’s ok…dunno, might be worth some research?

Agree with joriws’s simple solution, assuming there is enough room for the knots.

Water knot failed at 64 and 71% of the breaking strain of the rope, double fisherman's which failed at 75 and 81% of breaking strain. Nothing to worry about when your 2 x 5mm dyneema has a breaking strength of at least 4kN. The water knot (or whatever you want to call it) is much less bulky so I prefer it for this simple kind of application.
