twintip g10 fin supplier

Postby thewindego » Tue Jul 05, 2022 11:05 pm

Hey guys

Looking for a good supplier of standard g10 TT fins. Most searches are either too dam expensive or some plastic crap.

Looking for 20-30 fins or so.

For that quantity, you want to contact manufacturers.

...All I know is that 20 years ago, I could get injection-moulded fiber-reinforced nylon fins at less than 2.50 USD a piece, including shipping overseas , if I placed an order at that quantity.

I've never ordered from them, but If you want to buy quality and reputation, Tarifa Fin Company might be a good place to start as a point of determining the premium price, but nowadays, almost everything gets made in China.

Just use Allibaba, demand samples at a reasonable price based on your claimed order volume, and have them slap on a cool logo to hide your shame.

Seems to work for almost everybody else... 🤪

Dont know what prices you refer to but in general you cant buy just 1 set from a factory. Prices depend on volumes you buy. Brands buy bulk hence pay lower price but need some margin for that.

Set complete G10 fins (made in EU) with screws and washers 44.50 Euro including tax...

Lots of manufacturers on Alibaba most fins are probably made in China and re-branded by various brands.

Prices I've got from Slovakfin in 2008 were :
Moonlight fins:
destroyer (50 mm, M5)- 4 pcs x 5,5€ =22€
sharky (50 mm, M5)- 4 pcs x 5,5€ = 22€
intruder (50 mm, M5)- 4 pcs x 5,5€ = 22€
geronimo (50 mm, M5)- 4 pcs x 5,5€ =22€

They were even cheaper in 2010:
Moonlight fins:
sharky (45 mm, M5 + washer)- 16 pcs x 3,7€ = 59,2€
Darkness fins:
shadow (50 mm, M6 + washer)- 4 pcs x 4€ = 16€

I do and don't. For the last Alaia I made, I 3D printed the pressing mold and the board turned out perfect, without (veneer) delamination issues. I've been riding it ever since and enjoying free time out of workshop. :D

Ok,

so G10 is better because...?

Whats wrong with polycarbonate? Light, cheap, and epoxy will sort of stick to it.

I see no G10 fins anywhere...
