I am making a simple harness for wing foiling. It's basically a webbing belt with a hook, and a wide section of EVA at the back to spread the load. It's modelled somewhat on the Dakine Solo Wing harness. I have been winging for a while with a homemade hook on my waist leash and would like something a bit more comfortable (and have the fun of making something. )
The commercial product looks to use a vinyl fabric for the harness shell. That stuff is used for boat upholstery and spa covers and outdoor furnishings.
Has anybody used vinyl fabrics for harness projects? Does it last a reasonable time in on/in water use? Do you know if the harness makers use a particularly high spec fabric?
The domestically available fabric is cheap enough to buy but I would like to make sure I buy a decent quality fabric that is suitable for the purpose.
Thanks
