Why do you think they included a shot of a flysurfer boost at 0:43 in the video if everything is done with a Sonic? Wondering if he was using an LEI as well for filming it.

Who knows. The editor isn't perfect. I doubt it was an LEI. The truth though is that if you have skills you can make any kite look great. If you don't have skills you just do crash after crash. I still prefer the soul to the sonic though because the soul is more well behaved.

If you have skills, wrong kite or less wind, you still will crash
Last time I tested a bigger foil, wind was light, but still nice to pull some sweet jumps, but everytime I wanted to do a surface trick, I sank at landing because I didn't have the pull. Same power LEI, no problem.
But, been a while I tested a foil, so maybe this improved?

Only one way to find out. Don't bother testing any kite except for the hyperlink V from ozone and the soul 2 from flysurfer. Those are the ones that feel more like tube kites. Other foils still feel like a foil. I would not recommend any foil kite from before 2019.

Toby, you answered your own doubt....
You said you would stick to ONE kite only, to be able to perform the best (makes sense)
But then saying you can not get a foilkite to work, when you try it (instead of years and years practice with the same kite), I dont think is fair
I am not saying which is best, but agree with edt that riders skill and for some also experience with gear, makes all the difference

well, this means it is me, landing all jump tricks with either kite, but not surface tricks with the foil?
I am sure when you take another kite, you immediately know if it works for you or not? Specially after 2 hours riding?
