Toby - 4 or 5 lines with dynos?

Postby Oldpeople » Sat Apr 26, 2014 7:06 pm

toby I am not trying to start a big 4 or 5 line debate. I was just wondering if you were using 4 or 5 lines with the big dynos. Does the 5 line bar help with water relaunch? I have noticed that my dyno with 4 line bar is harder to relaunch in lighter air than my cabrinha with a 4 line bar.

I use 5 lines.

Makes relaunch a lot easier. Pull 5th in, kite goes on its back (don't let it go all the way), then pull on bar one side so kite crawls to side and off you go.

Thanks, I have a older 2011 4 line bar (so I could get microloop) do you know if it can be set up to take 5 lines or do I need a 5 line bar?

All you have to do is change the front line setup.

Never did it, but you can just add a 5th line to it....should do the job!

Thanks, I would really appreciate some more info from anyone who has actually done the conversion. I don't have a five line bar and line set up to compare and photos etc from north site aren't too clear as to the changes that are necessary.

Just connect the same line length fifth to the same level or point where the front line is connected at the bar then run the leader from the tube to compensate for the difference between the level of the middle of the tube and the front line attachment point on the wings. That's the simplest. The other would be going thru the bar like a five line safety but that is not the point here. Make sure that you have some slack on the fifth so the kite doesn't fly on it. So when the kite is down just reach for the fifth and that's it.

Thanks I'll give it a try. The dynos do seem a little hard to relaunch when it is light . In better wind they seem just like the carbrinhas but I have drifted along quite a ways in light air trying to relaunch. Only thing that helped was pulling the depower strip to Max and then pulling on center lines. So I hope the fifth line will help
