Hey Airstyle junkies.
What kite sizes are you using for 25 knot sessions? Also how many pies have you eaten?
Ok, I know Toby some how holds an 18m in 25 knots. But what do the rest of you guys do?

A big issue you have to notice is the density of the wind, the colder it is the denser the wind, I take my 14 up to 30 knots in Egypt but the wind is hot, If i was in south Africa i can't handle the 14 in 25 knots, Board also makes a big diffrence

12/13m for me @75kg, but normally changing down from my 135 by 41 Laluz to my 126 by 36 flyboard radical. To be honest the tricks are scaled back at these winds. It's more a case of going big with a simple board off, hold for ages, slow rotation type for me. If it's gusty through say a winter front I'm changing down to a 9m which is a assehole of an airstyle kite size. Hate small kites now. So I tend then just to freeride, loop wave, wave ride kind of stuff...just a fun blast dog style session becuase as you know there is 50 odd percent more power from 20 to 25 knots.
It's about the 25 knot mark that is the only time I wish I was heavier. Oh and at 20 knots on the 18m. Sometimes just not enough pies pushing down on that back foot!!
Toby's a freak.

Yes, air temp plays a role.
In Germany I don't hold 25 knots with 18.
In brazil yes.

about the question: for lighter riders a 14 would be a good combination with the 18.
But be aware: you will not land as many tricks as with the 18.

have you thought of using stupid short bars on smaller kites to slow them down?

Sure but it's got to be microloop compatable. I've been using 28m and 32m lines on anything smaller than 18, but I'd rather have a shorter bar and keep my lines at the usual 25. Changes the feel and redirection longer lines..better hangtime I suppose but also I tend to increase the pendulum effect with longer lines. So I have a normal 25m north bar, 28m north bar (extensions) and a 32m north bar and they all run on the inside bar setting. But I'd rather just have one to be honest...
So Plummett if you could whip one up for me in your shed that would be great!!

How about this? One of my land kiting buddies fashioned this bone bar up during the kitebuggy trip crossing Mongolia!... mad buggars.
Back to the airstyle. you dudes are holding down some rib crushing power. Do you all use seat harnesses? or is crushed ribs just a occupational hazard for air stylers.

Hi,
Im 78kg and use 14 Screamer in winds with guests up to 25knots (long lines 32 and either on small board 126x36 or normal board)
If guests go to +25 knots I change to 10m Dyno 2011 and 33m lines on small board. If guests go beyond 30 I change to wakestyle.
Jan
