New Cabrinha Apollo - good for Airstyle?

Postby Toby » Wed Aug 03, 2016 10:50 am

I just saw the promo video of the new Apollo kite from Cabrinha.

The shape looks like a good Airstyle kite. I hope to test it end of August in Germany during the worldcup. Not sure if they have one for testing though.

Anyone here who already tested it or can test it soon?

Has anyone had a chance to test this kite and can comment on how suited it is for airstyle?

In particular, I am curious how it differs to the Cabrinha SB for height, hang time and relaunch.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Since it is very stretched (high aspect ratio), I assume the relaunch is not like a SB.

I am hopin lg to test it in a week at the German worldcup.

Yah, I figured that much about the relaunch.

After you test it, please share your review.

This kite intrigues me...

Yes flown it.....3 weeks ago....a 12m2. On a 44cm Cabrinha trimlite bar. Relaunch is easy...I didnt expect that...even in 11 knots in the surf. It flies and feels and steers (slow) like a flysurfer foil kite..(I own North dyno's ...flysurfer sonics....flysurfer speeds..ozone edges..) .. I have flown it on the lightest bar setting (the A setting) which is to light for airstyle. So Toby make sure you fly it on the B or C steering line setting (for you probably the C setting :) ). So yup, thumbs up for airstyle purposes.
I will write a longer review later...Since I am at work now...ssssst :naughty:

Did you get a chance to fly it, Toby?

And rienkb, can you write a longer honest review?

I tried the 14 in too light and gusty wind.

Cannot really say anything. But, once I had some power it felt like it really wants to pull you.

So I assume it has a great power to get you up high.

I asked Alberto Rondina to make a video performing on it. He has one in Sicily, good winds and also does some nice Airstyle tricks. Will post when available.
