This is another one I made using threaded cap ends. It's easier to remove the handle with the threaded ends (no cement needed).

I made one very easily with a bar of aluminum about 3/4 inch wide and 3/16 inch thick. Bent it to the shape. Then drilled holes to line up with hole on board. Took a couple of trials to get the bending down. Used a vise. The wrapped with foam tape. Has held up well. Cost a couple of dollars.
