Wow that is carving nicely, reminds me of "surffoils" work.
OTOH.. What a neat fishing lure!
Seriously I would feel slightly better if the body plan looked like a shark instead of a delicious little tuna. Maybe they can put some magnets and anti shark paint on it ?
Anyway it's cool and looks stable and maneuverable.

This rocks on so many levels...

1. Classical natural design, why try to evolve perfection, adapt yes ..... Ricardo, magnifico, bravo.
2. Why do we think that copying an aeroplane design supersedes the talent of nature and evolution
3. Oh and after seeing the duck season is now open (franky).... let's see where things go from here

This is design and evolution at its' best, keep going all and let's see where we get to, magnificent.

the whole 'copy natural things' because they work well has gone wayyyy too far and somehow people are still falling for it.. bravo to the marketers of the world.. fish etc are living creatures that have to contain organs etc to live so their shape as a whole is not the best at all to copy from, take inspiration from PARTS not copy the whole thing!!

Hey Bradn,

Not being rude dude but, quick question: Your solution is?

Keep it short and sweet so those of us with limited technical expertise get it and the designers and manufacturers can explore it. All for everyone having a go for everyone to benefit.

Just think Ricardo overcame a slight problem of your 2K plus foil going to the bottom (make it float :duh: ), I still think he's onto something very achievable :thumb:

Go for it designers and manufacturers, take us to the future :D :D :D

It will be interesting to see if eventually the recreational foil is something like this and race foils tweak front and rear wings depending on conditions.

Surffoils tried a lot of shapes and found a 23" by 13" flat aluminium plate was working OK in the longitudinal direction.

Consider this,
most kiteboardhydrofoil t bars have 4 main parts,
strut
fuselage
front wing
rear wing
and normally 3 connections, fuse to strut, f wing to fuse, r wing to fuse

This design has 2 (two) parts
strut
wing
and 1 (one) connection
Just for this I say BRAVO! So great to see outside the box thinking! :D
Taking nothing away, I have seen seen designs close to this idea, see thread kiteboardhydrofoils available.
If it proves it self I will build my 5th based on this innovative design.
And from the video it looks just fine! Sure hope to test one myself!
K I S S applied gotta love it!

The mast attachment on the Hydrofish looks surprisingly far back to me.
