The Friday wind forecast is still light and from the wrong direction so we shall see how the first day of real racing goes. Saturday looks better.

Interesting tha Adam Withington seems to be on a new Aguera foil but listed his sponsor as Spotz.. I guess he has switched. I also see Taaroa and Zeeko foils represented. This should be good.

It's the practise day so it doesn't count. Also a lot of sailors have a superstition about not winning the practise races, or even not finishing the practise races. I've seen boats park up right on the finish line and wait for someone else to win if it's practise day!

You can see it in the photos where Adam Koch is working on his Aguera foil.
Looks very sleek and streamlined. I'm sure the future will be with deep tuttle mountings and very streamlined foils like the Aguera.

silly silly patent, and I don't even think he was the first....
take a look at moses race foil for instance
Probably my mistake. I saw mention of patent regarding it and tried to extrapolate from that.
I also seen somewhere that he had a patent and I think they were his words, but the patent was for the connection of the wings to the fuselage, this is not a silly patent if it is a new and unique idea and the designer strongly believes it has and advantage over other methods.

here little update from Playa Ventana Facebook page:

Race update: Started Race 1 in 7kts of breeze. It was pretty shifty but solid. Top riders made it to Mark 1 in six minutes. Shortly after that rounding the breeze dropped to 5kts or so. Alvaro was winning on the 15m Chrono and Maxime second on a 15m Dyno. Julien was right behind them. The downwind took a long time and half of the fleet had sailed into a big hole. Lap time was 10:15 and the writing was on the wall. The top 3-4 riders made it back o the top mark with Maxime rounding it first. We waited it out but in the end we reached time limit and the November flag was flown. Maxime just walked by and told me to type that he won the race. Cheeky frenchies. Hoping for breeze later this afternoon. Now we're chill in

Maxime on new North Dyno and Sword. Alvaro on Chrono and KFA Australia Foil.

hope they get some winds and race soon

A post later in the day..

"Racing (note the plural) update: It was scrappy out there. Breeze built back up at about 1530h. 7-12 knots fro the east, onshore. Sailors hit the course and we did three races back to back. Took a short break and finished our fourth race at 1815h. By the hair of our chins we have a qualifying series. Basics: Maxime, Julien, Johnny and Nico P. battled hard today. Lots of lead changes but it's clear that Maxime won the day. A whale went full breach on the race course as the last finisher crossed the line. Pretty sweet"

I notice Taaroa, Spotz, Aguera, and Zeeko foils all represented in the top ten.

The wind tomorrow should be stronger.

GREAT- the first hydrofoil worldcup is on it's way :thumb:

Would be amazing to see just a few ever so short video clips of their riding and tack/jibe level and downwind technique.

Impressive Sword Taaroa presence !!
does anyone hold stats of brands and number of each in the whole competition?
i remember they kept track of this in ironman series.

Correct me if I'm wrong on any of these, but based on the results and previous videos I've seen of the riders I think this is what people are riding for foil, kite, board in the top 10:
