How long do you like long lines?

Will you be in the Klitmoller area this week? I hope to be there from Thursday to Sunday.
Hi

Depends...

When out with a normal 7m2, long lines are starting to be a drawback, so I am trying to avoid this
(and it does not take much wind till this happens, around 7-8m/s and a 7 works)

So normal lines 22m, or 25m will do fine.

When riding with average kitesizes like 9m2, 25-28m is good if the wind is up and down, again depending on conditions.

For bigger kites, and marginal conditions, 30-32m works great.

Longer than this, does not feel good for me, but can maybe for some heavy kites and in some conditions, work.

Something like 25-27m lines could work as a "one size fits all" though, excellent for hydrofoiling with most sizes, compared to waveriding where you go 20-22m typically :D

Above is of course my personal experiences only, but I got 22m standard lines, and 25m on one bar too, and then 3 sets of extenstions 5m, 7m, 9½m right now, as these will make all often desired combinations possible (old bars with okay lines has been transformed to extension sets too, does not take long and you got one end sleeved perfectly for at least two sets/8 lines)

Nope, not in Klitmøller but I think there has been awesome conditions this sunday from early till now, as some of my friends drove up there early today :naughty:

Hey, thanks for that. Good food for thought. I´ll look around and invest in some extensions.

Great advice to try longer lines! Can go up to 28 m now. Tried it with an 8 m kite today. I loved how smooth the power can be generated. It was pretty windy for the 8, so I can't comment on how much it helps me in very light wind but It is a great feeling. Maybe it was part of why I nailed so many jibes today, too.

I have sufficient progression with my strapless surfboard, too, but the steepness of the learning curve with this new toy is definitely very satisfying ; -)

I've got 27m lines with 6m extensions and much prefer it with the extensions.

Unfortunately, our beaches are getting very crowded now and I've had to drop back down to 27m :( The long lines make it much more difficult to find an open spot to self land and self launch
