Lightwind Stoke

Postby darippah » Sun Dec 28, 2014 10:23 pm

Just got back from an awesome session in light winds on my Delta Hydrofoil and flysurfer kites.

Wind was on/ side onshore

I initially tried going out on my new FS 12m speed 3 deluxe on standard 21m lines with no luck. my new 8m s4 deluxe is rigged with 27m lines so I figured what the heck I'll give it a shot

The 12m s3 seems to not build up much power with such short lines in low wind and seemed to backstall a bit. i'm sure a bit of tuning will help significantly

To my surprise the 8m s4 got me going right away even though its a much smaller kite

Unfortunately I can't say which one of the 3 factors caused this but I'd assume its a bit of each, mostly 1 and 2:

1- longer lines
2- smaller kites are better since they turn faster
3- speed 4 has better low end

bring on the thoughts and stoke ;)

Mind boggling what small kites can be sailed with the hydrofoil. Thanks for sharing the stoke!
