Its cool to see you foiling at the flats, If you are still down there get a hold of Joel from Air Padre, I sent him a foil which he hasnt tried yet, it would be great to get you to try it. BTW, you are missing some miserable weather here in CO.
We'll be down there the first of April.

Are you hitting bottom with the foil in Padre? I know it is relatively shallow there.

My short foil is 30 inches 76cm from bottom of board to lowest part of the foil. You need to be at least 250 yds. Off shore to be deep enough. I never hit the bottom when I was far enough off shore. I foiled 5 days in a row, covered miles with no problem. This might be the best place to learn to foil in the US. Steady winds, smooth water.

You're pretty brave wearing booties with straps! We foiled SPI in late September but only kited the channel where we knew it would be deep enough and also on Port Isabel side when it was NE wind. My mast is 37" so it would have been quite a drag out and in at the flats.

Denise, the foil is to long for the bay. Petra and I went out and body dragged with it close to a 1/4+ miles out and it is still to shallow. Not willing to take a chance and hit bottom and screw things up. We will wait for good Gulf conditions to get started again. Another hard norther coming our way.

Joel
