Hi Francis

Impossible to answer without knowing your exact hydrofoil, as it changes hugely between types.

You are asking about where to position your mast base, right ?
(is it a plate or tuttle or other box ?)

Can not be answered without knowing the precise hydrofoil brand and wing, as the wing and profile combined with the rear wing type and trim, will have different "COE" (Center Of Effort), depending on exactly which one it is.

Even if you just change front wing on a given hydrofoil, it can often move the COE a substantial amount forward or rearward.

Furthermore, the mast can be positioned different on the fuselage, and can be tilted for or rearward too, between types

What brand and type is your hydrofoil ?

Then I am sure many can answer precisely where to put it, in order to have weight evenly at the center of your board strap insert positions :thumb:

Ok I have a fellafloat hydrofoil , is a plate mount and I know that the position of the mast is under the rear foot .
When I asked for the stance , I was asking about the distance between rear and front foot.
Now I have a distance of 40 cm and I think is better about 45 or 50 cm.
Wich distance do you prefer or is best?
Thanks.

Aaah, okay, that was a very different thing, sorry....

A good question, and interesting what distance others like ?

Just checked - I ride strapless but this should give a very good measurement for a good distance, as I can put my feet where I want.

65cm is my preferred stance, and I am 175 (5'9) only but long legs.

This stance also goes for my strapped (and strapless) waveboards when in the impact zone, which is a bit wider than most I think, but I find it much better.
Stance on these are 62-65cm from center strap to center strap, and strapless sometimes even a bit wider.

If you just go straight, hydrofoiling, you can ride much more narrow, comfy - but for carving tight you want your rear foot further back (well, I do), and no downsides when cruising with a wide stance IMO.

I can see, if I stand on the floor with front foot angled, that my 65cm is where you mean 50cm from nearest points between feet ?

40cm (55 center to center right ?) sounds very very close, I would not feel good with this, apart from when cruising where it is fine.

I am 180 cm (5' 11") tall.

My preferred stance is 68 cm (27") between back footstrap and one of the front ones .. measured centre to centre.

If you are mounting a three strap configuration be sure to put the back inserts for the two front footstraps very close together.. mine are 4 cm apart. This will make toe side riding easier in my opinion.
