Camet Foilboards - a few pics

Postby Brian Camet » Wed Jun 10, 2015 10:16 pm

A few photos of things I have built. Always fun to see what others have built so I figured I would share.

Hi Nice looking boards.

I am building a wooden board and would like to ask for your advice.

I want to insert two 30 cm fin boxes but would like to know where to place them.

The board dimensions are 150 x 52. Keen to know how far from the back I should place the back of the fin boxes. I don't have inserts for foot straps or foot hooks installed yet. I can put them in later.

Will,

Do you have a photo of your board that you can post? It will help determine where things should go. By fins do you mean race fins?

Regards,

Brian

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your fast reply. I should have been a bit more specific. I am building a wooden hydrofoil kite board. It is basically flat for 1 m from the back and then has probably 9 cm of rocker to the front.

I am referring to the fin boxes or sliders like in your boards (Yellow file 0079). I have an aluminium foil with a aluminium base plate with 165 x 90 mm holes.

I have just fibre glassed the top and want to start on the bottom. Just curious what would be the best set up for the sliders. How far from the back of the board do I install the back of the sliders.

Also interested to know whether the opening in the slider should be to the back of the board or to the front. I noticed your opening is to the front of the board.

I know it is a lot easier to buy a brand new board that is proven but I just wanted to learn some basic board building skills for my own enjoyment.

How does the box attachment work on this board?

Is this V-shape through the whole length of the board your new standard design, or just something you're trying out?

Really nice looking boards! That white/black Spotz gullwing foil kind of looks like the T-9 foil. Is that a new design. Where is Camet based? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Brian,

Great looking board Brian!

I actually shaped a board with the same Hullshape concept. Coming out of vacuum today. I'm still going to have to wait another two weeks or more to be strong enough to ride it.

Is that V-Hull concept working well? Anything you are willing to share about how it rides compared to a more "flat" Hull?

There is a photo that shows the box that the foil head goes into that box along with the foil are bolted to the board - you can adjust it anywhere along the box.

No it is a prototype that has been designed for ebb tide racing in San Francisco. The deep double concave is still the best design. This board is for advanced rides that don't touch down in tacks and jibes.

No its a Spotz2. - Ty Reed is the rider.

Berine is the only one that has a t-9 foil.

We are in San Diego, California.
