Ladder foils have been around since the beginning of hydrofoils over 100 years ago. Its not needed for kite hydrofoil, once you learn you can control your height just fine with your feet and kite power. Thats what makes the kite hydrofoil so great! You dont need any kind of surface piercing foil or control system. Added struts and wings would just add unneeded drag and complexity.
