Last year the Gold Cup series of races began in La Ventana and ended in Australia.
Does anyone know what's happening in 2016 ?

"...2016 Gold Cup rules will be the same as 2015... There will be 5 or 6 dates in 2016, we are working on the new calendar with the USA, Australia, China and certainly France! "

Except in another interview Marco said that now that they had got the kite foil class ISAF ratified (against the class members wishes) that the Gold Cup would be huge and that there would be a World Championship. I makes sense the IKS would try and pull this as Formula kite racing is dead, but not many of the class members really care (maybe the top 20 do?) and not many venues are keen to pay the IKA tax anymore either.

Great to hear an announcement at last. The tour has a new name this year and the first stop is once again in La Ventana.

Different tour.
Gold cup is an IKA property and can crown a world champion, sanctioned by ISAF.
This tour is for the riders by the riders and yes, the first event is in Ventana but that's an autonomous event. Lord of the wind is there in 3 weeks, separate scoring.
Basically we now have 2 official hydrofoil race circuits with the gold cup being mired in all the garbage that comes with IKA and hydrofoil pro tour aimed at all competitors without a sanctioning body

Unsure..."by the riders for the riders"
Curious to find out who's behind it and whether Gold Cup riders will be "banned" from competing by IKA due to their financial interests

Let's hope that IKA politics doesn't get in the way of a great event.
This event has just been announced but already I see some top riders are "going" including
Adam Withington
Olly Bridge
Julian Kerneur
Nico Landauer
and 16 others so far..
And those who are "interested" include
Erica Heiniken
Zack Marks
Gunnar Binniasch
and at least 30 more
This will certainly be a world class event.
