Jared Carlson of http://www.kiting.com(Kite Instruction here on Maui ) makes the first attempt to Kite Foil Pe'ahi/Jaws here on Maui with the TTF Aguera design Twintip Foilboard, 6m Naish Pivot, and a Go Foil with All Around wings. http://www.gofoil.com

Awesome - it is such a special feeling when foiling on a big wave :naughty:

Riding HUGE waves must be something special then, and awesome weather (we got winter here, but quite warm though) :thumb:

My respect and dumb admiration for this ride!

Even if he might have great skills providing à small "B" and "C" - option for the most critical situations, this an amazing performance !!!

that looked scary :o

I did wonder how long he would keep the baseball cap on & how loose was his spreader or was that a DIY slider :?:

wow....impressive.

what is less impressive is how extreme the flattening effect is from the gopro's fisheye. The wave looks about waist high on the gopro footage ... lucky he got the land shot to tell the tale.

Yes, Jared's Go Pro footage looks super small which always seems to be the case with a Go Pro. Here is another example with a Go Pro from yesterday that I took off of my Twintip Foilboard here in Maui.
This wave was about an 10ft face (3m+) and looks like 3ft (1m) face and looks super far away from me...

I believe there are other settings that reduce this fisheye effect, so there's less dampening. But haven't looked into it. I've more or less stopped using helmet mounts because of it ... I find it can kind of wreck memories of those epic days. Super stoked post session, re-surfing those great waves in your mind ... and then get home to check the footage and "wah wah wah wahhhhhhh" (sad trombone). Maybe better just to keep the memory intact. Or find someone to film you from the beach. :thumb:

:thumb: Felt exactly the same after shooting my rides at Jaws 3 years ago. Still value the memories but it would have been nice to also have it on paper.

I took some more line mount Go Pro footage yesterday with my brand New Aguera 5'6" Quad Surfboard for kiting that I received from my factory to test. Usually the line mount looks a little bit better but I haven't check the footage yet. Epic day at Kanaha yesterday though! The wave was lining up real well and the wind was stronger than predicted, I was on a 7m Neo and my daughter Kalia was on her 5m Pivot. I'll post some shots if any look good on the wave forum...Looks like maybe one more day here today before trades taper off for a bit.
