Absolute Poor Spotz foil service (solved)

Postby johnnokeys » Thu Jan 07, 2016 1:04 pm

Update: problem has been solved and warranty been taking care of.

------------------------

Spotz foil 2 everyone knows has major design problems and NOW they will not replace a warranty front wing as the wing again gas broken after 3 months - I am amazed how Spotz had shown me such poor service and no interest as their faulty design has broken again - shame on you spotz - if you are not a top 5 rider Spotz will not support you when their crap manufacture falls to pieces

Roxanne & Jerome are absolutely not interested in helping fix problem

I will post a video of what a Spotz 2 will look like after 3 months of useage -

What part of your wing broke? Did you hit the bottom at all?

About a half inch of wingtip broke off my spotz2 front wing after about 3 months. I was surprised how little it mattered to the ride. It happened at the end of day 1 of a 2 day race. I sanded it roughly, and put some super glue on to seal the wood core from water. Then went out and had a better race day with the missing wing tip haha.

I had hit the bottom several times and also had caught that wingtip in a fishing net so didn't expect a warranty replacement.

I can not comment on the Spotz....

But it IS a general issue with all hydrofoils, as if you hit something, warranty is lost of course, and reasonable.

And if you have hit something, the hydrofoil might break later - so even if it breaks suddenly riding calm in clear water, it can have been damaged by oneself earlier thus later apparently seeming like breaking "out of nowhere" :(

If there is serious quality issues that is visible after it broke, it is another matter - but really difficult to deal with, as how much is a "good - okay - not satisfactory" product regarding getting a new one for free

Having said that, it seems that most hydrofoils from different brands can take an awesome amount of "beating up" without breaking, as long as there are no severe production quality issues :naughty:

Does Spotz really have a wood core wings? I thought all top performing foils are solid carbon...

Yeah there's definitely wood in the wing. Also talked to someone who had repaired his spotz2 fuselage and found there is wood in the fuselage as well.

It was clearer to see before I covered it in super glue, but here's a picture of my damaged wing where you can see the wood core inside.

This is how much of the wingtip broke off on mine (traced from the opposite wingtip):

I asked them about a warranty, but was honest about the fact that I'd run it aground and also hit that fishing net where pretty much the entire foil and me were stopped by that wingtip catching the net. They said no on the warranty, but I understand their position considering the circumstances. I talked to another guy who had the exact same failure.

It's not the toughest foil, but it's damn fast!

Front wing male peg connecting to mast IS poorly designed and built - after 2 months of talking to Spotz they will not warranty the new front wing they sent me - new front wing - perfect condition - front peg again broke down - never hit bottom - not sure what the random pictures are below of broken too as that has nothing to do with my wing

photo's Mr key.

At a guess has the original warrantee expired?
It sounds like you got one part under warrantee then it failed several months later. maybe after the original warrantee expired?

Are they selling the foil wing as full carbon?
Or do they say it has a wood core?
