Hydrofoil Tests

Postby myerscouse » Tue Jan 12, 2016 7:27 pm

Hi All
I am on the brink of buying a Carbon Zeeko Foil as a step up from my Moses Silente which I have been riding for the last 2 years.
I have heard that a French Mag did a test on many of the current crop of Hydrofoils.
However, I have Googled it several times I cannot find the Test.

Has anybody got a Link ?

Any other considered thoughts appreciated.

Cheers Paul

Hi

Have you considered getting the HP560 front wing and corresponding tail for your Silente? Those wings share DNA with the new Moses Vorace, and if your existing mast is in good shape, it would be 30% or less of the cost of a new full setup.

Just a Thought....

Yes, i bought one about a year back & found it a little tricky at first although I didnt have the stablizing tail, I soon got the hang of it after a couple of goes. Top speed certainly increased though not by a enough, Im not knocking my Moses mind you.... its been an excellant fist foil However, now i think its time to try something a little sportier, also it looks like my wife has nicked it ...... so time for a change but thanks for the suggestion .

Cheers Paul

Maybe you think about issue no 96 from this summer ?

Got the mag somewhere here, can not find it right now...

Apparently also some hydrofoiling in no 99 (havent got that one)

Mag can be ordered very low cost: http://www.kitesurfmag.com/fr/page/19/abo_mag_and_shop

You can not go wrong with the Zeeko IMO, I've had a couple of the second generation, and friends got the new one, and the mag was also extremely satisfied, here a summary of the "points" from the magazine added together for fun - but remember, mag has made a comparison based on pitch/yaw stability, ease of use board and foil, and how well it turns, NOT speed/race:

PS: Many other brands has arrived since then, but hope above was what you asked for ?

i have the zeeko aluminum, i have tried MHL, stringy, liquid force and go foil

zeeko is my favorite with a close second on the go foil

I'm more comfortable on the zeeko strapless than the go foil

I wish they made the carbon version with a wing that covers the fuselage like go foil/lp foils

when my aluminum version breaks/corrodes i will prob get the carbon version as my only complaint from the aluminum one is that it weighs a lot

Whatever. That test is a nice illustration of the value you can score with the Zeeko Alloy.

Agree with both - any "test" ARE per definition BS :naughty:

Only some brands represented, maybe some are even paying (we saw that in windsurfing) for good tests, some are left out if not paying for ads, and even if almost fair and well represented brands - there can be huge subjective test results (and what each of the test crew member is "used to")

Paul asked for the test and where it was, I answered that, and it gives some indication of where you dont go all wrong and value for money, when talking freeride

You mean the international standard for dynamic stability isn't measured in unitless numbers 5 and smaller?!

I'm selling a complete Zeeko Makera.

I am in the UK if you're interested.
