frontwing made of 2 windsurf fins? link?

Postby lupociotto » Fri Jan 15, 2016 1:31 am

hello,

somewhere I once found a picture or description from somebody
who had glued together windsurf fins, modified the profile
and added some layers of glass or carbon, to make a nice front wing.

but I cannot find the link anymore.

can anybody here give me the link ?

best regards

wolfgang

It can even be done with Formula kite fins.. Which are dirt cheap...

My forward swept wing is made from kite race fins. The rear swept is from windsurf fins, both work very well, but try and use the stiffer fins. If you are limited with the flex you can ad some biaxial or uni to reduce this.

I later cut off the ends of the rearward swept wing, about 5cm and reattached at 35 degree angle. This greatly improved downwind riding.

how long are your "fin made" foils working now ?
any long time durability experiences ?
do you have a tip for easy strut making also ?

your work looks great to me !

(riding a super levitaz aspect, but interesting in a second foil just for the fun of DIY)
