@ foilholio
Bin thinking , (A LOT) on what you said about carbon LE , and the effect an ocean wave
would have on it , like the washing-machine . I cut a profile for an airfoil LE batten
out of EPP foam , then covered both sides with Spectra fishing string, and wound
the matrix with spectra thread, to keep the fibers from separating from the foam .
Next up ; try to break it ?

Interesting you didn't use resin and just wrapped it in thread? I take it is round? Very stiff?

I am not sure to understand exactly what you are discussing, so maybe out of topic, sorry for that ; but on my custom single skin, I have "inserted " the same kind of LE rigidification like the peak; For that purpose, as I started from an existing kite without reinforcements, I have inserted directly inside the sew of each cell compartment, 30 cm long of a tennis raquet string at each cell along the LE (diam 1.5 mm nylon); it is perfect (rigid enough because "locked" in two planes, light weight, very flexible for crashes or packing, and cheap) ; the most difficult is to lock it at each extremity and not sure that it will not damage the cloth since a bit cutty.

Did you place it in seam? Could try using glue on the ends so they don't cut anything.

Going to jump into the debate,
Active racer here, short lines make a HUGE difference, you lose some low end due to the power strokes being smaller but in general they really slow the kite down which helps hugely allowing you to hold a bigger kite for longer. No more getting lofted off during tacks. Went from 25 to 19m, going to make up some 16/17's soon. Added bonuses are increased stability - definitely noticeable when launching in super dodgy 25kn offshore conditions and can launch in much more confined spaces.

Greg Drexler using 10 meter lines with a 3.5m kite alongside a 2.5m kite...that must have been interesting to watch...I'm hoping for a video:
