I'm been thinking about a 12m Naish for light winds to replace my 14m Pivot. Other than the Naish ads I haven't heard much about the Trip. Any thoughts on this?

I had a chance to demo the 12m Trip recently and I was impressed. I expoected a lack of performance compared to my Pivots, but it actually performed quite well. It seemed to jump fime, it held it's shape pretty well during kiteloops, and it relaunched easily. It allowed me to get foiling out on the water before anyone else (in light wind) because of it's light weight.

I'm on Trips in 10 and 12. They are great! Due to the cambattens behind the LE there is almost no flutter, even not in loops. I weigh 93 kg and foil them strapless on a non-volume-board at 8 knots (freeride wings, no race setup), in lowwind it's important to have "longer" lines. In my case 25m. In 12 knots i switch to the 10 m with 20m lines. Only when it's really gusty, i prefer strutted kites as the just more stable in the canopy when fully sheeted out.

I,ve owned the 12 trip and 12 cloud c2, rode them back to back in variouse wind conditions and concluded that they both stay in the air equally, the trip is slower turning with higher bar pressure and feels like it pulls harder( could be fooled by the higher bar pressure), for me foiling the cloud has a broader wind range and is easier to reluanch but doesnt jump as well for twintipping, I believe the cloud drifts better down the line in surf( probably cause its lighter)
That being said my choice is the cloud and since sold the trip.
Just my thoughts for what its worth.

Now that I think about it the trip also has a much longer bar throw from full power to depower and didnt really " shut off" like the clouds, I am pretty tall with long arms, John , who is short at 5'4" felt like he had to fly the trip trimmed in and depowered some in order to reach full depower.
There are decent deals on used clouds C2's now that the .5's have come out here and on ebay >>

As about of light of wind as I can go in with any kite except for maybe a 14.5m Flite.

Its the kite of choice at the beach I was at yesterday. 6 guys foiling, all on Naish Trips. I think they were all 10m though.
From chatting to them yesterday, I think they work very well for surfing as well but don't drive upwind as well for twin tip use. They suggested that the 10m trip was enough to be a biggest kite in the quiver. Probably worth noting that we tend to have reasonable wind here so a 12m might be better if you have a lot more 8-11 knot days

right now I am using a 10M Airush VXR as pretty much my lightwind - to 20Knot kite. I have a 15 but it gets overpowered really quickly - as the foil has so much more speed than a TT. Will be interesting to see of the Trip can compete in terms of wind range. Still wondering if I need a 12 or a 13 tho.
