@george, do you have a video of surfoiling with your monofoil?

There is a wake foiling video of the Delta monofoil.

IMHO in the last second of the clip this mono behaves as typical foil with stabilizer.

I never found video of surffoiling or supfoiling with a monofoil.
...
I ride my singlewing foil with kite, wing, wave…I never go back to a classic foil :D
Hi Gurwal, thank you for your video,
I think you have the first video surffoiling with a mono :thumb: , but would be interested myself to see further, as myself just doesn't have usable spots close.

But seeing you riding to me means, that there are just two foiling sports left requiring stabis:
- Windfoiling (even if Phil from Horue has shown that it works, my impression is that balance system together with the sail could require stabis also in the future)
- race kitefoiling (no speeds significant above 40 km/h seen and hard to think about going 50 or more on a mono)
- that's it, if not beginner, windfoiler or racer: GO MONO :D

... I designed the Delta Cozumel and Delta Mono wing specifically for use without a stabilizer. They have much greater pitch stability than conventional wing designs. They also work very well with a stabilizer and most customers are using them that way. ...
Thank You for the info George,
the "Cozumel" with a 90 cm strut sounds very interesting, just wondering about the weights you are giving: 2 kg even with a 60 cm strut sounds very light, or is it just the airplane, or 2,4 kg ? Also the gab between 900 cm² and 1500 cm² sounds wide, so have you plans for something inbetween?

As we slowly start to have the first serial products I start thinking about a test in the next month / in spring:

Focus to entrance kite mono foils, so about 850 - 1400 cm²
- We have quite some monofoilers at our spots of every level of experience and weight
- Already many known and converted monos available of different price range: levitaz, moses, duotone, gong ...
- would try to get the first serial monos: DELTA and KETOS

Categories could be:
- easiness of converting to mono
- usability /easiness of riding
- speed range
- pumpability / surfacing / drifting / jumping
...

Let's see

@George will contact you when I come closer with planning.

HI.

Just a new short supfoil video with the 1500cm2 singlewing prototype. It's stable enought to catch a wave, even in white water, carve and pump.

Hello All,

The Delta mono foil with a 71 cm strut is 3 kg. I can arrange shipping abroad but you will have to pay any import duties or VAT on your end. I don't want to declare false values on the commercial invoice. If you visit the US that would be a good opportunity to purchase a foil and avoid the tax.

You can contact me at deltahydrofoil@gmail.com

I will try to post video of the mono foil in the waves.

Regards,

George

Finally got the nerve to try riding mono by taking the stabilizer off my Slingshot Infinity 76 foil. This wing is about 1500cm2 and 3.7 aspect ratio, if I remember correctly. Wind was 15mph avg on 6.5m one-strut LEI. Choppy bay water.

First impressions: very pitch sensitive and lots of porpoising up and down but I started to build some new muscle memory after 20mins and was able to ride more smoothly up and down wind, complete flying jibes and one or two 360 with touchdown. I wasn’t able to switch feet strapless on foil. So far, I like the free feeling of the wing, less drag, but I will have to get used to hard practice again. It’s an exciting challenge.

I use this foil for ultra low wind riding with my 11m Diablo race kite and I’m interested to see how riding it mono will be different, but until I can complete jibe or tack more consistently and with foot switch it’ll be too risky in low wind.

I realized I’m used to riding with one or both knees extended and locked like Race-stance but it seems better to keep my knees more bent on mono to absorb the pitch changes due to choppy water texture. Straight leg leads to being catapulted off or nose dive.

Another test. More successful jibes, but I don’t like how the wing tries to nose dive as you speed up. I have to maintain a steady speed or move feet a lot. Worked great in river with debris and leaves though! For now, I think I’ll call it a successful experiment but will put the stabilizer back on and enjoy the relaxed sleepy cruising freedom of the surf foil.
