Nobile Zen Splitboard

Postby irwe » Tue Sep 20, 2016 11:36 am

Does anyone know what the strap configuration is for the Nobile Zen Splitboard? From pictures I have seen it appears that it only comes as a 3 strap. Maybe these are just prototypes.
It would be a huge mistake not to offer it in a 3/2 strap option.

Hi irwe,

I haven't tried it myself but can tell you what I have heard from Mischa from www.kitejunkie.com who tried it last days and has it in his shop:

http://kitejunkie.com/nobile-foil.html

Yes it seem, apart from most things which look fine to perfect, that Nobile misses to give the possibility
- of a middle strap
- to have different strap positioning on the board and so also the possibility to narrow or broad
- and as I understood also the straps themself seems to by pretty "prototype-style" maybe even not size able
- another little problem for people with very big foot could be that the heel will have to stay on the angled corner of the pad.

So talking about straps in general we hope that nobile will upgrade the named problems, which for sure needn't be a problem for everybody, especially not for people not using straps at all. But as the foil is actual with its first wing very much addressed to beginner, we would not recommend any beginner to use the straps, until he is able to estimate himself, if they are well shaped for his foot or not.

As said the rest looks great from concept, shape to quality.

God I hope this comes out before December. I've been wanting to take my foil on my trip but the board size is too restrictive.

I received my Nobile Zen Splitboard. I ordered the 60cm mast and all around foil.

The mast/foil and hardware weighs about 7 lbs.

I have never used a foil board before, or for that matter a directional board. I liked the idea of the splitboard so that I can travel with it easily. I ordered the 60cm mast because I am a foil beginner. If I really like foil boarding I would probably want a longer carbon fiber mast but one that would still fit into the split bag.

I love the Nobile concept, but 60cm is too short!

I had a chance to use the Zen as just a directional board today. Wow was it fun!!!

It was my first time on a directional with reasonable wind and I loved it. I am not sure how is compares to other directional boards but I was surprised at how well it rode. The board has what looks to me like a fair amount of rocker and while the nose is not pointy, that did not seem to be an issue at all.

I seemed prefer strapless and maybe that was because it was a light wind day and the water was pretty flat. I like the rubber topside, nice stuff.

This whole setup looks pretty awesome. I hope my local shop gets this before I leave in january on a 7 month global trip. Combined with a split tt, its the ultimate travel setup.

I have it since August cause i have the chance to meet Darious(Nobile boss) in KiteMykonos.I am beginner to intermediate level. The foil is one of the most steady and easy to use.It comes with a front wing for beginners to start but i also rode the fast wing witch is very fast and difficult to control in downwind. The Board is awesome for lowwind days and some small surf but not good for dedicated strapless ride.It goes super upwind and since i have it i have won 4 times in a row in directional kite racing.Good construct overall but a bit heavy for me.I have the prototype model and its for sale to whom is interested for 1650€ + shipping with a bag and its like new.pm for info if you want it..
