I've been riding my v1 for last three years (first on original Vega tire, then Hoosier slick and now on Burris treaded) and I owned the Pint for a month so here are few drops of mustard on the Pint cake:
- smaller diameter tire makes you feel way more bumps and cracks on the pavement
- LEDs are not as bright and don’t lit the road as much as v1 does
- Bluetooth connection is weaker and just drops when riding so you don’t get speed nor battery readings nor the warnings. Future motion has been fighting this issue in XR, pushed back on the repairs (but if you insisted they repair it for free within warranty). This alone made me return my Pint

Great and greater things about Pint are:
+ more round tire allows you to carve amazingly easy
+ 750W motor rocks in acceleration
+ awesome LED indicator on top of the front plate shows battery and sensor status
+ average top speed is higher (but pushback is way more powerful too)
+ slightly more battery range
+ much better grip tape on plates (and nice angled plates)
+ no longer you’re asked “did you make it yourself?” - which for commercial product is a funny comment. Though my son told me that “v1 looks better because it looks like you made it yourself”
+ the fender looks like it belongs to it and is done right

I've always liked the look of the Onewheel. The Pint signifies the end of the early adopter period.
At $950, is within budget. Even after paying a ~25% premium for not being in the US.
Have one on order, arriving imminently.

What I'm hoping:
1. I don't have the bluetooth or other technical difficulties. Sounds like this is a bit hit-or-miss.
2. As a hydrofoiler, I'm going the get the hang of it easily, or at least more easily.
3. Riding the Onewheel is going to make me a better hydrofoiler.
4. It's good as they say it is, and a much needed dose of stoke, especially for times when I can't get on the water.
5. It's going to become a big part of my commute, if not my whole commute, and pay itself off over time that way.
6. (most importantly) - that I can save my nosedives and faceplants for the water, and keep it tidy on the tarmac. :)

I'm curious to know what other foilers have experienced. Especially 2, 3 and 4.

Well they are as good as advertised but number 6 is the key one. I ride so much Slower now. I shudder thinking about how aggressively I rode for the first year. Nuts! I don’t boost 30 footers over frozen lakes anymore either. It definitely scratches the itch when you can’t get on the water. No doubt you’ll pick it up quick. Super intuitive.... too easy really. Will it make you a better foiler? Not sure. I often wonder if hydrofoil racers Onewheel in straight lines?

I gotta say the Pint is still sleek looking board and with temps dropping I still enjoy surfing concrete.
So I got myself a new one :)

Way cheaper and very effective:
Balance board (indoo board)
Waveboard (street surfboard, casterboard).
Maybe less fun but helps a lot.

I can pump a skateboard too. Soft bushings, large wheels - been doing it since I was a kid. It takes a bit of effort and initial speed to go uphill but doable and fun to not have to touch ground.
Yet it’s not, as my buddy said four years ago “foiling on concrete”. That phrase sold me on Onewheel then

Lots of fun but be prepared for hard falls. I have had several friends get hurt, broken wrist, busted shoulders...

Several friends had broken wrists, countless jeans and jackets ruined, scars don’t disappear fast when you’re older. Some hard falls at very low speed too, just falling funny.
I was trying to go my fastest when front bumper bit the road and I rolled hard. Same friend told me “everyone wipes out hard once, but you should learn to make that to be the last one”

But anyone biking/skateboarding/rollerblading probably risks quite a bit too.
