Besides the fact that any sufficiently thrusty drive system would octuple the weight of your gear, the idea of a moving propeller in the water near kite bridles sounds suicidal.

What about a smartphone app for the foil-board jet engine that can measure the battery drain, speed, nearby FB friends positions and has an online personal kite coach feature for a small monthly sum?

Also the battery should be compatible with the one used by the electric kite inflating super pump and the kite food supplement cooler box.

I actually have some, but only recently realized they would be good for this purpose since they are so light. The primary problem with them is that the rubber straps are very difficult to tighten and adjust, and near impossible to put on and adjust once you are in the water. I have removed the rubber straps and am currently in the process of installing webbing straps and using quick release buckles. I will try and post my results here.

A few months ago I started to carry diving fins in a backpack. Used them once so far to pull my hydrofoil & rolled-up foil kite back to shore after the wind died. I swam on my back, pulling the nose of the foil board with my hand. Worked well overall.

Yup. Heard the story of someone seeking a foil kite, Tom it out for one last ride...dropped it in the drink, a helpful jetski came to help and sucked the lines and bridle up into the intakes and impeller
