New Wing from Levitaz: Cruizer

Postby lupociotto » Wed Apr 19, 2017 11:45 am

hello,

Levitaz has a new front wing out now (will be on the homepage within the next days, they say).

Me and some friends were foiling a prototype already months ago, and I have my serial wing since about two weeks:
We all found the "cruizer" extremely fun and good for learning manoeuveres and extreme light wind riding.
It will be also a good wing for SUP foiling for sure.

It is a beginners / intermediate wing, really huge at 1.000 cm2.
Outline / profile is similar to the "element" wing.
It fits to the other levitaz parts and is made of 100 % carbon like the other wings.
Finish is - like usual - absolutely perfect.
Due to the size it can be foiled at ridiculously low speed, about good walking speed and it feels very stable at all speeds.
What was unexpected for me: The top speed of the wing is not slow at all !
For the size it is actually pretty fast (please don't ask for numbers...) and, best thing, it never does what other beginner wings often do:
No vibrations, no feeling of stucking at a certain speed level. IMHO this is caused by pure perfect hydrodynamics and finish.....

After two years of strapped riding an not beeing ambitious to jibe and tack in "flying" mode (I rode a Levitaz Aspect = race wing and weight nearly 100 kgs...)
I changed my my ridiing style to strapless and sort of freestyle carving (having boardriding maui videos in mind....)..I found the perfect wing for this with the cruizer.
At the moment I absolutely love it.....an ride kites in sizes smaller than ever.......
As far as I know pricing will be equal with the "element" (smaller freeride wing).

Regards Wolfgang

Can this new wing stick to the following description?

Peter_Frank wrote: " I think I know what many would like:

The option to choose an extra really big and easy wing (area/lift) that can be used for learning and going easy, or waveriding hanging onto the wave at really low speed, or for learning jibes and tacks "easier" as you have more margin for error when it does not stall and fall down as easy, and finally they can be used for marginal winds too, riding in the utmost lowest possible winds and even carve without going down, much better :thumb:

And last but not least, it is a must for heavier riders :thumb:

Some offer these bigger wings, others dont ".

I am particularly interested in the low-end capabilities
and stability to learn foiling jibes.

Can anybody from Levitaz telling us about take off speed and maximum speed?

hello flaps,

I'm not from levitaz, but everything you write I can answer with YES.
I weight about 98 kgs actually and I use the wing for exactly what you describe.
(Owning also an aspect and an element wing, I know about the difference).

Only thing I don't have numbers for the speed - my estimation is starting to fly at good walking speed 6...kmh, top speed 40+ kmh maybe more.

Has anyone else tried the Cruizer yet? I was reading the post about the wing and only talk about it people related with the brand and very heavy riders.

so now about the speed:

professional foilboarder Florian Gruber (Germany) already reached 50 km/h top speed with the cruizer.
my friend mario l. (designer from Levitaz) is a very good foiler, but not professional, and he not heavy at all (maybe 65 kgs I dont know) told me that he reached 45 kmh with it.

so - like mentioned before - for sure this is not a race foil at all, but the top speed is good compared to other rookie wings

regards wolfgang
