Yes ive only tested the V3 12m, the Voyager Light Speed 12m and 15m. Ive no idea about the other new models.

BUT, im not the one who called voyager 4, and the topic author described it by the one with a single strut in the middle, which is the one ive owned

Exactly, its not you, it just seems that some who are not into the models, can get confused.

As the topic author asks about this specific model yes, but others are inclined to believe this model IS the Voyager 3 in form as a new model, which it is not

The Limited Edition models 2018 in 8 and 12 and 16 m2 is the "Strutless" Voyager 3's direct replacements I am pretty sure.

The history (please correct me if wrong), is that the earlier Voyagers had one series only, where the 12 and 15 were strutless, and the smaller had few struts, so it made sense to call it one revision and size.

Now it is 3 overlapping individual series, so Storm are using the series names Voyager + Light-Speed / Limited Edition / Free-Ride + 2018, instead of Voyager I and II and III

12 m Voyager 3 is a good size for most people. Fits well for lighter guys and normal women foiling. If you are above 90 kg or like to ride powered in 7-8 knots get the 15. Been spending a lot of time a under powered this summer on the 12 m and it just hangs in the sky even in ridiculously low winds it is very well behaved plus it can drag me in when wind drops below foiling level which is something non of pure bred race inflatable kites have been able to. Very easy to do foiling jibes with, it takes a bit of getting used to for foiling tacks as the lift at zenith is lower than on race kites and foil kites.

Very quick for its size and is of course super light. Used the 12 m with 25 m lines on a 55 cm wide bar which seemed like a good combination. Did have it out on 23 m lines and 20 m and I think the sweet spot is around 23-25 for light wind as it holds the shape in that range.

Also super easy to get back in the air, just reverse it up if directly downwind or get it on its side if the canopy is collapsed by pulling one front line and opposite rear line.

The 9 m Voyager 3 with three struts does overlap with the 12, but not by a lot. The 9 m works well for up to 20-22 knots for foiling so the best minimal quiver would be 9-12 for most.

And I'm asking about the 9m one you can buy in their online shop now, 3 struts, August 2017 model that is called 2018 I think. Has anyone tested it for waves and foiling?

I tried the 3strut 9 m once in my foil,back to back with my 2010 RRD obsession 9 ( 5 strut). I also have been using a North Mono 12 many sessions before. I tested the Storm before buying a 9 mono.

It's a tame 9 meter with a weak power spike in starts, but normal power under way. Light flying inputs. It's a decent kite. I felt it was too weak for me in power stroke, and dealer selling it confirmed my impression that indeed those kites have relatively weak down stroke. Some may like that.

I brought a Mono 9 and it has same character as the 12 and 7 mono I have. Relatively powerful.

I think the 9 with three struts is good for foiling, not much of a wave surfer so cannot comment. I had it on 20 m and with that line length the overlap to the 12 is minimal (used 25 for the 12). It is not super grunty but is easy to position right in the window and does produce insane power spikes in the turn which is nice when you are on the foil.

Yes, kites with loads of power and grunt are bad for hydrofoiling most will agree I think, a friend of mine had the 15 m2 Mono (he was heavier so would correspond to a 12 for the average), and he sold it as it simply pulled like a truck, turned slow, seeked low, was useless for hydrofoiling in his opinion

But if the point is to ride in the lowest possible wind, it might work of course

The ltd edition has been released. A friend of mine has one. I haven't had a chance to give it a go so can't give any feedback. He went for the 8m. Seems pleased with it so far although I have only seen him out on it with a twin tip as we have had too much wind for foiling since he bought it.
