I'm wondering if they are able to make a smaller front wing for the Takuma 'copy', would be cool to swap out for different sports and riding styles
Just came across the thread about the new slingshot H4 front wing. What if it would fit the hover glide alibaba copy? Ultra cheap foil for both surfing and kiteboarding
Hey guys, I want to get into kitefoiling. Do you think I can use this Chinese hydrofoil along with a Naish Hover 130 to learn how to foil? I don't want to buy something like the Liquid Force Rocket Fish and then sell it to upgrade to this.
Despite my earlier post about the doubtful ethics of buying a Chinese copy of someone else's design, I sent an email enquiry to one of them. No reply.
Good luck.

Why buy a brand new, name brand board, and a Chinese knock-off foil?
If you want to learn for cheap then buy a used hoverglide setup w the flightschool masts and the cheapest used board you can find. Even cheaper would be buying a foilmount and slapping it on the underside of an old surfboard.
(Though I really love foothooks for learning to waterstart a high volume foilboard)

The option you are proposing even used would cost around 1k. Used surfboard 100-200, mount 160, used hoverglide with flightschool new is 1100 so used probably 700-800. 150+160+750 = $1060 vs Naish Board 320 + chinese foil $425 = $745. With the chinese option eveything is new and I won't need to upgrade in the future.
Why on earth do you think you wouldn't want to upgrade? You might "have" to become a racer, "need" a pocket board or find yourself becoming a wannabe Greg Drexler who "has to" have a tiny flat plank to ride.
And if you hit rocks or anything else too hard, will the carbon foil hold up (Only if you're lucky)?
Get a used setup that is known to beeasytolearn. Buy it for 500-800, sell for the same if you take care of it and upgrade, or keep a while if slow learning.
As time passes, more and more good deals in decent foils will emerge. Use this to your advantage.
IMO these alibaba purchases are for those who know
what they are looking for from experience...
I get that you want to score the perfect set up right out the gate, but the fact your asking is a pretty sure sign your not gonna pull it off. I wanted to get a foil to last and it took, knowing what style I wanted to get into and a decent bit of research to understand what the better options were. The thing I weighed most in my choice was the track record of the company/designer. Pretty sure you haven't a clue about what that foil is even a copy of let alone weather its a decent foil or not.
If "carbon" is the selling point for you, I can assure you, whatever you get will be quite out of date in a couple years and you'll want something else anyway.
I would imagine the quality of both design and construction vary widely at this stage of the knock off game. No big deal if your a researched gambler, but if you don't know what your looking at and want a sure thing, there are plenty of better proven options.
I have to agree with BWD. Starting with a known cheap/used foil and selling it to upgrade is your best bet in my opinion. I bought the LF Foilfish brand new for $1K at the beginning of last season. I've seen them used for $500. This is the board, mast, fuselage, wings, and a longer fuselage for learning.
I may end up buying one of the Chinese foils to upgrade to. But I don't think it would have been a good starting point.
