I personally know of 4 pilots, 2 of which are VERY skilled who have owned canards and now do not!
Seems simple enough to test your favorite standard set up and then compare to a canard.
Maybe the same question could be asked to KBHF racers and industrial aircraft?
Ever flown on a commercial canard plane, or even seen one?

From what I read the canard design has been used in some fighter jets but a big negative is that a stall leads to falling backwards and unrecoverable dive. In hydrofoil use that same stall leads to coming off the foil and sinking down. ...which is a positive trait for front wing breaches, especially in waves.

That may be an over simplifIication. there's probably more to it. I find the idea intriguing.

If your going to make one better to get your hands on a zeeko and get all the proportions. I made one and it would lift in the beginning and completely stall out when it got to a certain height and crash down....repeatedly.... Did my best to CAD out the profiles and used an epler118 for the rear wing. The stall was in full effect.

Just wondering, it seems the Zeeko canards works awesome and everyone is excited about these :D
Curious now, why no more brands offer canards ?
Too early, or some downsides too ?
Sorry, cant help wondering if one or another :-?

I wonder about it myself. Perhaps others tried and failed to make one that works? Spitfire was released less than a year ago, so perhaps too early?

As for adaptation by more kiters, my gut feel is that many find it a bit intimidating. Hardly anyone asked me to lend them mine to try. Those who did had mixed impression of the foil. IMO canard foil takes some time to click for you, although with XLW wings it is not as dramatic. I don't mean simple ability to ride it, that is easy. I mean that "aha" moment when your riding style starts to change to take advantage of the setup.
I've been riding Spitfire exclusively since March and still love it and have no desire to even try another foil

people don't like change haha. Every time I break out my Spitfire people accuse me of assembling it backwards. It will catch on eventually ! Im just stoked I got one !

The bigger question, Peter, is why don’t you have one already??????

Ha haa, you are right

Maybe for the same reason as to why others havent gotten them into their product range yet.

When you have a complete working interchangable range, it is difficult both for us users as well as the brands, to "start all over" almost, new fuselage and new wings, and not interchangable with current gear.

I think this is one of the reasons we havent seen more, yet.

Hope there will be full carbon canards soon also, if canards work that well :D

Maybe they do not understand how to make the canard work - or don't want to invest in the research to develop a design?

Here's a thought. Could the canard set up be patented? And can't be used unless licensed from the patent holder?

There's only 2 commercial providers I know of....zeeko and crazy foil. Do they have it sewn up?

Its more expensive than the Spitfire and it looks poorly built !
