Ride Engine is distributed (and partly owned ?) by SS and if you compare the covers without the branding sticker it looks quite the same ..

The Ride Engine "Hoof Hooks" are substantially reinforced with greater thickness , material and a mounting plate . These are different than the Slingshot Half Strap , the RE version will be available soon.

You have the ss spacer wrong on the slingshot foothook. It should be longitudinal. I have one pair for almost 2 years. Not broke.

Cut a 2" x 6" strip from plastic cutting board.
Heat it with paint stripping heat gun or stove element.
Bend it into z pattern.
Drill 2 holes.
Voila, "unbreakable" foot hook for under a dollar.
I made one but never used it -- its strength is also a potential negative. For example if kite crashes while foiling, it's a potential disaster if your lines wrap on the hook ... having it break off would be preferable to death looping with the battle axe.

This was set up for the picture . I should of placed the spacer correctly , even with the spacer in the correct orientation I have broke several of these.

Sharp corners and no curvature to match the shape of my foot? No thanks..
