grigorib any thoughts on the 101 vs the 91 besides a harder fall? Im on the 91 mast....
105cm (original Ghost Whisper 42" mast). - Great for deep water - local lake, Lake Michigan, La Ventana. You could edge like mad without breaching. Too tall for OBX. (I rode 101cm on couple occasions - feels similar but feels shorter too)
91cm - probably the best "having only one mast" length. Can't edge as aggressively as on 105cm though. Rideable in both deep water and in OBX but happens to be a bit tall when OBX gets shallower and certainly too tall for SPI. Fits into my car sideways!
71cm - I rode it Oct '17 - Oct '18 on all 6 of my OBX trips. Feels short to edge hard. Sits close to water so less of "magic carpet" feeling. Good length for OBX and SPI
A guy who bought my 548 wing insisted on getting
41cm mast for learning and while others awe seeing you ride in knee deep water you gotta ride very close to the surface so chop hits the board. No feasible edging and overall mediocre foiling experience. Not mentioning very hard falls into not much of water depth upon biting the bottom with a wing.
My choice is to have 2 masts - I only bring long mast to deep water and only short one for shallows. So 105cm, and I hope to replace my 91cm with anticipated 81cm.
The 91 is great universal size, the 101 is better if you never ride shallow water and find a way to fit the foil into your car without disassembling it
