- 1200 sq.cm lightwind/wave wing is what I needed to get rid of heavy and unnecessary surf fuselage I had to have to ride larger 633/683s/679 wings. There are days when wind is around/below 10 knots and that’s when you need large wing. And again, ability to mount it onto same kite fuselage is priceless.
What is this 1200 that fits on the kite fuse? I don’t see a wing like that on the sabfoil site.

[Moving this post into the Moses thread.]

Has anybody else had a problem with Moses bolt heads digging into the wing? (I searched, but couldn't find anything on the Forum.)

I use a Moses 483 stabilizer with a 679 front wing on a Stringfellow 710 superfuse. I tighten the 15 mm bolts securely enough to keep the 483 stabilizer firmly in place, but the bolt heads are gradually digging into the stabilizer around the bolt holes (see photos). If this continues, I'm afraid the bolt heads will eventually break through the holes on the stabilizer.

I've used Teflon plumber's tape to try to make the bolts more secure without digging deeper into the stab. I've also considered using a washer on each of the two bolts, but the bolt heads are tapered to fit flush, so I'd have to switch to a different bolt to make washers work.

I've also wondered if moving the stab forward on the Stringy fuse would help. I use one shim under the stabilizer and attach it at the rear of the fuse. The fuselage has a bit of contour at the forward position, so it's possible that attaching the stabilizer (also contoured) in the forward position on the fuselage might better secure the wing without my over-tightening the bolts.

Thoughts, suggestions, advice are much appreciated. :thumb:

I’d try following:
- find M6 bolts with larger head diameter
- use a washer

If two above won’t help…maybe it’s time for new stabilizer soon. I’ll bring the 310 sq.cm to OBX in October if you’d like to try that

woudnt the washers that sab foil supplies (with the m8 screw wings) work?

Grigory and geron, how do those washers work with a recessed screw? Won't washers prevent the tapered screw's head from properly seating in the conical (recessed) shaped holes in the stab? Would I need to replace the screws with some that have a thin flat head bottom and top, instead of flat on top and tapered (recessed) below?

It's not hard to make suitable washers.
Simply get standard flat 316 SS washers find a strong counter sunk fitting and thread and screw down.
I've done this many times and all good

Agreed. It's not hard to make the washers. But the challenge is how to maintain the hydrodynamic design of the wing with its recessed bolt holes. The bolt heads are supposed to sit flush (or slightly lower than flush) with the wing to maintain a clean, hydrodynamic foil surface. That becomes difficult with the addition of washers.

But I have now added washers. I replaced the M6-1-16mm bolts with longer M6-1-25mm bolts. I paired the new bolts with M10 washers, which allow the bolt heads to sit almost flush against the washers. The wing definitely feels more secure with the new bolts and washers. The trade-off is that the surface of the wing isn't as clean and hydrodynamic because the washers and bolt heads sit on top of the wing instead of inside the recessed holes. I don't know if this will affect performance or not.

Three photos attached show (1) the 483 stabilizer wing secured with the new bolts and washers, (2) a side by side comparison of the old bolt size (on left) with the new (on right), (3) my front wing (679) showing properly recessed attachment bolts. Thanks for all suggestions and advice! :thumb:

It looks like the stabilizer material around the bolts is failing.

Sand for roughness, fill the holes in stabilizer with chopped fiber and epoxy and then re-drill.

For all those people looking for a Moses/SABfoil front wing between the 950 and 1100 it looks like an option is now available.

https://ensis.surf/product/pacer/

Ensis hydrofoils appear to be manufactured by SABfoil, and compatible with SABfoil parts, but the wings are available in different sizes. 1700, 2000 and 2400.
