New foil wing. W1250 (2400cm²)

The SAB website says "compatible only with the new high strength fuselage F700-HS"
My understanding is that the new F700-HS fuselage uses larger M8 bolts. Does anyone know whether this fuselage is backwards compatible? I.e can I use my old W1100 wing on the F700-HS fuselage?

Guessing.
It would require to drill the holes to m8. Worst case drill to m10, fill with epoxy then m8 if the foam gets exposed when enlarging the original holes.

Should not be too difficult, most likely you can simply trill the holes bigger. Possibly the countersink needs to be deepened to get the screw to sit flush.

1 extra millimeter on each side should not expose foam. If does - choose a different brand because one which would do that must be clueless.

Moses has been long due for new fuselage and I saw M6 bolt snapped by 1100 wing. Hopefully it becomes new standard for all surf/SUP/wing setups, especially after how much AR increased in large wings in past years.

quick question for grigorib: What's your favorite foil setup for now? I love my classic Lift 150 but am having a simple problem of getting a 36" mast cover from them. They keep wanting to send me a 41" mast cover and think that's okay. Are they starting to ignore the kite world????

quick question for grigorib: What's your favorite foil setup for now?
My absolutely favorite setup is 800/647/425,101cm. A road to that setup was not quick (nor cheap). I started with 2013 MHL Lift on 90cm mast and the moment I could ride it well I aimed for longer mast just to realize smaller wings don’t fly in lightwind.
So I went through 545(558)->548->590->633->683s->695->679->637->800->1000
Near the end of above journey, after selling 679 with heavier surf fuselage I realized, again, I am missing LW wing - so I got myself 1200 sq.cm wing and kept 637 to satisfy the need for speed.

The 800 is fairly expensive wing, so is 425 stabilizer (which has also become rare) so if anyone is looking for alternatives I found them too. Yet 637-800-1200 is my sweet favorite line of wings for my weight (plus a specialty arrowheaded 860 wing for seaweeds of OBX) and I ride all of them with race stabilizers. 90-101 masts depending on depth (would take 70cm if/when I get to SPI again)

I can bring a 36” mast cover to Gorge this July for you.

SmartSelect_20210405-191224_Facebook.jpg
to avoid confusion
The f700hs fuselage has the M8 just for the front wing, it is 10mm shorter and the mast position is 25 mm forward compared to the fs 710, more the front wing base in the fuselage is 2mm wider

All the big wings: the w1250 (2380cm2) ,w1100 (2080cm2), w950 ( 1390cm2) w940 ( 1100cm2) w790 (1550cm2) and the incoming w799 balz pro have now bigger holes for screw to use the M8

All these wings (except the w1250 m8 ONLY) are now sold with 2 sets of screws:
- 3 x M6 with adapter in case you are using these wings with the FS710
- 3 x M8

This means that you can use the new w1250 on the fs 710 with M6 but if you break it we do not honor the warranty cause we say "compatible only with the new high strength fuselage F700-HS"

On the opposite, if you buy the new f700hs to use with your actual w1100 w873 w790 w720 w683 w679 w633 to add strength to the impacts due to bad landings or rotations , you can do it by simply drilling the actual 6mm holes on these wings with a 8mm drill bit and enlarge with a countersink bit to adapt the hole to the 8mm screw head

so
yes there is more then enough space to do that work
and, yes , this fuselage is backwards compatible with everything we sold in the past

foiling since 2008

jm

I didn't think trading out the stabilizer to the s421 with the w800 (thanks Grigorib!) would make much difference from the s330, but oh man was I wrong. The stabilizer swap completely changed how the foil. For anyone who bought a high aspect wing and is going back and forth on the race stabilizer, just get it. Its totally worth it. Its way more stable and has a more balanced lift feel if that makes any sense? I felt very comfortable at 26mph with a new kite (new 9m UFO) and new foil setup (800/421). With more wind I could have topped 30mph no problem. The 800/330 setup is hyper maneuverable and fun to carve super sharp turns on, but for normal riding its too unstable to be much fun.
