I’m pretty tall (6’3”) and my stance narrowed dramatically when I started riding a small board. Some of that is probably because I moved the foil back, but it is also because there just isn’t room on the board for a wide stance. I like a narrow stance because it makes footswitches so much faster, which is necessary for me for underpowered tacks, and I love the way carving feels with a narrow stance.
I got curious about my stance width on my pocket board. Looks like it’s about 18 inches.
I’m not setting any speed records with this stance, but my foot switches are really fast, which allows me to do tacks even when underpowered.

Only days after talking about how I don't like tiny pocket boards very much, I'm now in the position of maybe doing a trip that would require a very small board to fit on a very small plane, which puts me in the position of maybe building or buying a board significantly smaller than I'd normally like, so maybe I'll eat my own words, hah.

Your board is NICE.
Does it handle touchdowns at all? I think for me having my front foot so far behind the nose gives me a little margin of error on touchdowns, even though my board has no rocker. I’m always pleasantly surprised how well it can handle minor touchdowns.

What width is your board? Do you have any issue with space for flying foot switches?
My stance takes up about 32" as well, but I'm not sure how much difference that makes except making 32" the minimum length board I ccould comfortably use.

Junebug and Grigorib, are those home made? If so would you mind sharing a little how they are made?
(Edit: found the thread, never mind)

16”. 32” stance on 36” board is just fine. Going fast I tend to widen the stance

I measured my stance today; is about 75cm or about 30 inches, as the "middle" general purpose position...
