Well done, sitting on the board is probably the easiest thing to do on a foilboard. Should have mentioned the importance of first trying on flat water, makes a hell of a difference.

this is the oposit of how I do it.
back hand in the middle of the bar, front hand to controll the front of the board and to shift weight (but) into balance position.
the transition need to be faster, to be able to do it in conditions less ideal then on the video.
Windmaker is right, its easy, should not take "a thousand times "...

I agree with K-Roy. Front hand replaces front foot in very quick motion. I crouch down low as can, then sink front with front foot pressure and time it so foil goes into small size chop and ever so towards windward. Get front hand on board then all is balanced from that point, allowing quick adjustment to where bottom and legs are positioned.
At first I found it unnerving, but after a few the balance came quite quickly.

Super fun fo ride like this, and can rest leg muscles if needed.

Hi Foil,
about getting back there is an short explanation on the end of the following Topic, which should already answers most questions. In short just do the movement from the video in reverse play: ... 30#p985330

Starting on the knees from standstill should be the easiest and safest way of all to start, but it can be a bit less compfortable, especially if you have no board pad, it can be ok if strut is short. Anyway I would recomend NOT to start sit foiling as shown in the first video above, as I after very long experience, now think it is the most difficult, instable and maybe also most dangerous ways to come into this position

I am maybe the only one learned sit foiling 1,5 times. First on stabifoils the way explained above, which is a copy of Phil's way from Horue

and now since more than one year trying on the monofoil, just using the 3 easiest versions I know:

1. starting from standstill sitting ... be&t=2m05s
2. starting from standstill on the knees (front straps a bit in the way, if board is narrow)
3. rarely by letting myself falling on the deck as here with a stabi foil ... be&t=2m20s (you have to set up play speed to 0,25 to see it slowly)

But on the mono I would never try Phil's way as just to hard
