OMG.....I nearly fell into SCAM for this foil package. It was an obvious SCAM. The ad and the images they sent me did not match. The voice and the image of the guy in those pictures did not jive..They pressed that I send cash as family and friend..and when at the last moment I went to enter their paypal account to PAY, the currency came up as Romanian LEU. They also had an international paypal account. I backed out but now I had 2 occurrences where someone is trying to access my google account from Great Brittan. A word: do not send money through paypal for goods or services as family or friends unless they are, because you will not be covered by buyer protection. Too many red flags..... Buyer beware.

Could you perhaps provide an example of the ad and indicate the platform of where you saw it(facebook, ebay etc...)

Just thought that it might help others to have an example of what to watch out for.

Man. They deleted every ad from this individual on the "POPULAR" Kiteboarding classified section without a second thought. The person had only recently joined, had no personal information. PayPal could only tell me that they had an active account-that's it. I am freaked out so I don't want to post much more about this other than what I wrote were the red flags that I saw. I only read about stuff like this happening to people and now it is personal. Since the fraud division at .GOV is furloughed, I cant report this to anyone . I am truly spooked since they have some personal info.

I get approached by scammers on the site where 'i' sell 'Kitesurf' equipment all the time, usually asking to buy my "product" or "items" for cashier check if I'll agree to give it to their "pickup person" who will come to my house to collect the funds.

Crazy...I pretty much only sell to someone I can chat live with through Facebook or over the phone so I can verify they understand kiting and speak the lingo.

"Family and Friends" or "Gift" hasn't been an option here for years. Apparently, you have no protection if you send money that way so why would you? Negotiate the fees if that bothers you...

It's usually pretty easy to separate scam posts from the real ones.
Just ignore people who can't be bothered to snap a few real pictures of their item, ask for more pics via text or email..
if still paranoid, run image search on those snaps to make sure there were not reused from other posts, ask a couple of technical questions and don't fall for weird payment propositions...
If it's too good to be true, it's probably is..
