I’m looking for a foil board up to 120cm in length - what’s good out there for further progression?
I’m an intermediate foil rider, currently progressing on Shinn Jackson 120 and while I like the board I’m wondering what else is good out there. I’m considering the smallest Slingshot Dwarfcraft but I’m yet to try it out. It’s mostly about board overal size, than enything else.
With Shinn I don’t like the mast mount - it’s not great for standing barefoot (though it gives feedback on where your feet is) and the it seems there are issues with the deck gluing (although the deck is really great otherwise).
Try the Axis MV (MinimalVolume) boards http://www.axiskiteboarding.com/product ... EsYdxMzaEI
I have the Free MV 125cm x 45cm and it's a great all round board, light, durable, minimal volume great for strapless waterstarts. They also have a 105cm version and a longer 145cm board. Although the boards are thin similar to a twin tip construction, they have a broad low profile spine along the centre of the board which stiffens it up so it doesn't flex like a noodle. The spine doesn't affect how it feels to my feet. Mainly use it with Moses Onda 633.
Having fun, Dave

Light and stiff makes a huge difference. Consider Kanaha Shapes. 3 different sizes.
I was looking for this! I found the website once somehow (there is this amazing little girl foiling in Hawaii in these, isn’t it?) and then I couldn’t (same with her videos - never seem to be able to find when I want to show someone)

Yes. Link to the “girl” video is on his website. He is also on fb. Amazing boards.

I just bought one of these and used it for 2 weeks in Cuba. I have the 37" with a Impulse surf foil. It took some getting used to the shorter length and not having any straps in the front but I had it figured out in a few days. I really like the boards, they are very well made, super stiff, they are the perfect shape and thickness. For their size they are very forgiving. Because this was my first strapless board I had to relearn my flying foot switch and I touched down a bunch of times... but I was able to ride away.
Horacio, was great to deal with as well.
If you're into cheap experimentation, find a used wood core wakeskate, drill four holes and give it a shot. I really like mine, in fact it really changed foiling to me to be forced entirely strapless (turns out my front foot was too far back). The only negative is lack of flotation, when water starting in light wind or on wipeouts. Another friend did the same thing with a surf-skim, which is a little wider and is unidirectional.
Call me cynical, but if it's just a platform for us to stand on 2' above the water surface, it doesn't need to be super fancy. Frankly a cafeteria tray would pretty much suffice.
