Heres one.

I think you want to push it through several times and not just a single insert down the center...

I’ve used the bent guitar string a long time. It works well. I don’t think the bead adds anything.
In a very tight line like Liros DC Pro sk99 the guitar string may not open the braid enough. These knitting needles in 5-0 or 6-0 are awesome. You still need the guitar string to pull through.

Not splicing kite line just these...double braided 4mm FSE dinghy star pro & 2.7 dynema for leader lines and main centre line and depower line...splicing the double braided looks a bit complet but sure it’s easy

The above splice will slip if not under load as it is not stitched or locked.
The best splice I found for flying lines is the Brummel splice.
I use guitar string for my lines...

For some monthes I have been using a similar home-made splice tool as shown by ap888, but instead of the ball, I recycled a (french wine
) bottle synthetic-cork :
with a little hole crossing the middle to route the string through, then wrapping it several rounds around the cork ; works (very) fine ;
I also bought a Ronstan D-splicer by curiosity; this works fine on "standard" kite lines, but even the smaller model is a bit too thick to splice my very thin race lines ( 0.8 mm) , where this Champagne + guitar string system is better and easier than expected

Solid steel wire as used for hanging pictures. You can get varying thicknesses, thinner being better for thinner line. Just bend it in half.
Splices only slip if tension is applied only to the buried side. If the splice is larksed or firmly attach to something or knotted it won't slip.
A standard home sewing machine can stitch very thick ropes particularly dyneema which is very slippery and won't impede the needle.

Will regular sewing thread work for (whipping)sewing the splice together cause the stuff one would buy is .5or .8 or 1mm thick seems a bit thick no? For 4mm and less diameter lines..
