Literally kitesurfing is remotely piloting a small glider that you are tethered to and using it's lift to pull you through the water (and air).
Not even! :nono:
A kite is not a glider, nor a glider a kite!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glider_(sailplane)
Note that we call our sport KITE boarding, NOT glider boarding!
There are already to many incorrect terms used here.
Kite boarding, kite surfing implies waves!
Ram air kite, not foil, also avoids confusion with Hydro foil.
And always was, and always will be a STRUT, NOT, NEVER a mast that connects the Fuse to board, PERIOD!
Unless using French, but then spelled "mat"!
Gotta try to inform the truth, STOP alternative facts! d t

I should probably just ignore this post but I can't help myself.

The only difference between a kiteboarding kite and a paragliding glider is the number of lines attached and the direction the pilot faces. Are you going to tell paragliders that they aren't flying gliders?

People routinely fly 500+ meters on their kites when snowkiting. There is a video of a guy flying around 4 km from the top of a mountain on a kitesurfing kite.

This isn't rocket science people.
It's a wing.
We are attached to it.
We are piloting it.

Uuuh, what a mess, should have had its own thread now...

Most dont call it kiteboarding, but kitesurfing for one, just like windsurfing just with a kite - whether you are a wave windsurfer or a wave kitesurfer or a wave kitefoiler is the way to distinguish whether you are specifically going for waves or not.
Kiteboarder is not a known name in many countries either, but kitesurfing is the most used I think.
Just checked, googling you get 2-3 times more hits with kitesurfing, than kiteboarding, that is a quick but very reliable way to find out which is used the most :thumb:
Not what is correct no, but as different in different languages it makes sense.

A hydrofoil is almost a perfect glider in so many ways, only difference is the way we control pitch which is dampened because of the mast/strut, and not relying on speed changes the same way as gliders regarding self correcting stability.

A wing and fuselage and rear stab as a whole, is by many, also the French, called "A Flyer" - which makes sense, as in itself a really good glider :naughty:

Whether you are sailing or flying or riding a hydrofoil, we understand all terms very well no matter if some are not technically correct, but used, right?

Some terms I definitely dont like either, agree fully with you RH that it is wrong, like calling a 12 m2 kite a 12 meter kite, makes no sense and totally incorrect.
BUT, we all understand what is meant, it is sizing and not span nor linelength, so as most are using "12 m" there is no reason to chime in at every chance it is wrong - it is the used norm, live with it, I do.

Kiteboarding because if you say kitesurfing at check-in they go "ah surfing you gotta pay extra now".

I was told that adding a front foot strap will help completing 360, do you agree? (currently strapless)

Yes, it is super easy if having a strap, can almost not go wrong, compared to strapless.

Tack to toe side, easy. :thumb:
Duck tack needs stance change.
