Moses Silente + Onda 683S + 483

Postby dan_kan » Sat Feb 23, 2019 6:18 pm

Hi,
Maybe someone will benefit from this conversion.
I designed and tested the Moses Silente foil adapters for the Onda 683 and 483 wings.
The profile has been developed assuming that the assembly screws connecting the wings 683 and 483 with the original keel are perfectly vertical. To check the assumption itself, without waiting for a casting of resin, I printed with PETG 100% fill, mounted and .. works :o
I did not even have to move my foil nearer to the stern, and by default it is set to the right up to the front (I hold the rear foot in front of the strap)
It flies great, although some shuttlecocks were humming, so I will need to treat them with water paper.
Wing spacing went 70cm, originally ~ 75cm, but the front wing is mounted in Silente closer to the foil, so the rear, which is the "counterbalance", can also be closer.

1) 6x20mm, original 6 corner nut from Moses, ground to 12.5mm width
2) 6x16mm,
3) 6x35mm, passes through the wing and adapter so you should not lose your wing
4) 6x20mm,
5) 6x20mm, original nut 6 angled from Moses
6) 6x25mm

From the stern
1) 6x14mm, 6-point cap, gr. 3mm
2) 6x25mm, passes through the wing and adapter
3) 6x20mm

Printing the adapter:
PETG, fill 100%, for me 230oC, table 80oC, 0.2mm
(PLA is stiffer but more fragile and not resistant to UV, ABS is too soft for me)
PETG treats as a transitional stage, I ultimately want to make resin castings, and if someone has access and the ability to make aluminum components, just envy: roll:

Looks awesome!
Imagine how much money you can make making an adapter to mount 633 to 647/680 fuselage

NICE WORK!

You could use your prints as a pattern and try your hand at alum casting...get a little propane foundry and crucible and your off.

Im not so sure the 647/680 fuselage is a good candidate for a 633 wing adapter....the concave is a lot smaller and the nose is much shorter....

Hi, I'm from Spain and I'm interested in the foil adapters you have made. I would like to know if you are interested in selling a couple of them or if you could send me the details of the parameters or what I need for the 3D printing. Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Printing is a little tricky, need support and quite a big bed size of the printer but possible on prusa MK2/Mk3 printers. But if u like I can print for U for 20€ for each set (U only need bolts and nuts). I have just ordered very good quality PETG black with 0.02mm tolerance from Czech Republic so if u decide I can print couple of sets. How many U need? U should add some € for shipping to spain.
Ps. The 683 is so amazing. I suppose I will never think about selling this wings. I'm testing all the time the parts made from PETG and I see that I will never need to made this from metal or other material.
Best regards
Daniel

Thanks,
At the beginning that was the plan 1) test on print from PETG, 2) alum/metal casting..
but after sezon of testing, I will not try do any casting, because the print seems to be very stiff, strong and precise. I don't jump on foil yet, so this is only my experience.
I hit the bottom "couple" times (please don't as how many) during this sezon and I have damaged my adapter of 683 wing couple days ago. It is just 1 crack and I could and did continue foiling for a 1h but I didn't feel stable, so I printed again. In the assumption we should never hit the bottom, so it is even better that the adaptor absorbed the impact without injury for the front wing.

What with the 647 or 680 fuselage, I suppose it is possible but require hardware for calculation and design.
