I've got about a dozen hours on my 683S now and it seems very close in speed to my 590 to me, though some of that could be my skills progressing. The fastest speed I've recorded on it on the GPS is 22.0 knots, in about 12 knots of wind, on a 12m Hyperlink. But I've also hit 21.0 knots on it in a little more wind on 9m and 7m F-One Bandits. I'd imagine a real pro could hit 25 knots on it, though I don't know if I can. I can also ride it down to about 8 knots speed before it starts to feel like it's going to fall off the foil. It stalls and stops foiling more gracefully/predicatbly than the 590.

I rode a 590 just the other day. Seems a world apart. The 590 needs much more speed to get going. Once it goes it feels smooth but tracks hard. Unlike the 683, much looser.

I didn’t mean to compare the two wings in general, just top and bottom end speed

The more I ride the two Onda wings(633 and 683s) the more I am convinced that both wings are needed for my complete enjoyment of the variant conditions that I encounter and enjoy,
I did think at first that I would settle on the 683s, but no! in wavy low or medium wind conditions the 633 is superb, offering stability, silky smooth turns at hard sharp angles,
the 633 always feels relaxed and at ease in smooth wave conditions (flattering even)
The 683s excels in the high wind short chop days, or the high wind flat water days, it just loves constant high speed opportunities, making bumpy water feel flat, upwind on toeside feel fast, high and very stable, it really feels so good and a perfect partner for the 633.
the 683s loves the smooth waves as well but not as much as the 633 which is the winner for such conditions.

going into the water with a column never clean (alcohol, acetone or anti-silicone) as soon as you start pushing to go fast, you immediately feel the feeling of instability.
if you clean it everything gets better and you can push it with more control.
another step is to make the surface of the wing column opaque. sand with 800, 1000 and 1200 grit.
it will no longer be shiny, but in water from the best of itself.
I did it on 101-590-330 and the differences are felt a lot especially when you reach the maximum speed limit of the equipment.
no more vibrations or instability can be perceived.

I tried a 633, never cleaned.
with slow speed I felt nothing, but every time I tried to push it I felt vibrations, instability and I often fell while trying to gain speed.
then I tried a 101-683s-483s that I had cleaned just before.
I did the same maneuvers that I did with the 633 and in speed it seemed better, but not comparable to the 590.
with the 590 I don't know how to jibe, with the 633 and the weird 683s both on the right and on the left and I don't find any difference between 633 and 683.
