North speedster GT ?

Postby Pellesurf » Mon Mar 04, 2019 5:23 pm

Have anyone tried North speedster GT wings? Are they pretty fun and quick?
I have an LF Rocket but is thinking about something that's a bit faster but still quite stable and easily to gybe around with.

I have both, the Speedster and the GT.
Have learned on a Speedster setup, it foils at very little speed, easy for learning, very good upwind, not fast, good for learning tacks, jibes.
The GT version wings are a lot smaller, speed is better, but it needs more power and speed to rise, tacks and jibes not more so consistent :)
In overall the GT feels looser and is faster, but needs more skills, hope that helps...

The north speedster felt kind of springy to my crew due to the flex of the wing, which we all agreed felt strange, but maybe it just takes some getting used to in order to appreciate. What kind of speeds are you wanting to ride?

It is the GT wing that I am interested in. I just freeride and want to continue doing that if I buy the GT wing. It can be fun with a higher speed on the GT wing, but lower stability and more power / speed to rise may be the price to pay for this smaller wing and that makes me doubtful

The North Speedster is made in "forged carbon" that is the material (resin and shopped fibre mix) is shaped in a die. Maybe this explains what you feel.

I didn't feel any wobble at all on my Speedstar.

Please describe only the GT wing. The Speedster wing is uninteresting, so only the GT wing is of interest. It is easy to confuse the names and then the information becomes very confusing

Yeah, balticswell, could you describe little more on which occasions you use which wing and why? And at what point/when in your foil career you switched?
Thanks
