MFC Hydros foils

Postby slowboat » Tue Mar 19, 2019 11:31 am

Anyone with experience with kites? They make a 1250 and 1050 wing. Foil of choice for Greg of BRM Clouds.

You have to go over distributors or dealers. In Europe you can contact:
https://www.freestyleworld.de/markensho ... k/a-52051/

There will be other sizes for kiting be available the next few weeks also, longer masts, shorter fuselage and smaller wings.

Greg Drexler seems to love this foil: http://boardridingmaui.com/questions.html
Kai Lenny is using it in any conditions with Kite or Surfboard:

We tested it also in germany and love it for it´s agility and riding in super light winds (FW1250)

Looks like another large delta wing....wonder if the square fuse creates more drag than the Onda - looks like the old Srokas....nice vid.

but Sroka had that crazy two half fuse!

The wingspan on this foil and some of the other big surf oriented foil is pretty large. Seems from the Kai vid above that it doesn't matter if you breach a wing that big. It just keeps going on the underwater half. Interested to see as the riding gets more radical and angled over what the deal is with wingspan. If kiters will want relatively narrower wings or if it actually becomes "a thing" to breach in hard angles and send up a little spray.

Greg D has been great about posting his thoughts on things like drag and mast length. I think he is right about the benefits of thinner profile wings for less drag. He was riding this foil on its original 70cm mast but states he prefers the custom 82cm that he has been on for the last few months. I would hope the company comes out with a production version in that length.

we are definitely seeing some changing of the guard in foil producers. I kept expecting Horue to come out with a new kite foil, but its been a couple years now that they seem more interested in windfoiling. Don't hear much about Tarroa, or Sroka, or manta. Now were seeing companies like Naish and Slingshot catching up. Cloud 9, MFC putting out tantalizing products.

Gonna be another few years before we see designs settle out across brands like we have with other types of boards.

the 82 and 92 masts will be in europe in a month, also smaller wings. 70 is for pure freestyle, 82 best of both worlds and 92 for those who like to have more room or edge harder.

Thanks for confirming that longer masts are in development. Can you restate the wings sizes you list above in cm2? When will they be out and are they compatible with the current hydros fuse and back wing? Thanks.

Right now there is 1250 and 1075 frontwing with 225 backwing available, fuselage 63cm. Then 1000/200 with fuselage 58 for Kite and Big Waves and 2 additional bigger Frontwings for surfing. Everything could be mixed and fits together. The numbers of the wings/fuselage are the cm2.
