Duotone has a new wing called the Unit without a rigid boom. I'm looking forward to seeing it. The boom is very comfortable in the beginning for those of us who were windsurfers many years ago, but perhaps it isn't really needed??? I would certainly be easier to pack up without a boom. My friends who have moved on to other wings without a boom quickly get used to the handles.. and these other wings seem more stable (don't jump around as much).
Dan, I'll be most interested to hear your review when you get your hands on one of these.

I will post as soon as they let me play with the production version, I have tried a few of the protos and they work awesome. The boom is still preferred by some riders too. Kinda like some people like directional surf style kiteboards and other like twin tips its really just a different style for different preferences. Now Duotone will have the best of both Worlds:)

You got any more photos of the Unit? Any more info? I can’t find anything anywhere.

No. Perhaps those two photos appeared on Facebook before they should have.. before a product announcement. Dan Gavere is the Duotone & Fanatic guy and I'm sure he will post when (and if) the product is announced.

It's a downside if the lack of a center strut or "fin" is the reason it does not hang as stable with a boom.
But apart from that I only see advantages and not one single disadvantage, so I find it way better, no comparison

With or without boom seems to be the debate among Wingers these days. It is still early days for a final verdict but with Duotone releasing a boomless wing and non of the other manufacturers making Wings with booms might be setting the trend?
Looks like they adopted an F-One Swing configuration with one front + 2 back handles.

I’m hearing the the echo wings will show up towards the end of April, but the booms are delayed due to Corona factory shutdowns. Who knows if that’s really true or not given all the current chaos. I guess the current booms don’t work with the echo’s. Of course by then the world might be entering a full-on deflationary depression and they will giving them away at steep discounts.......or maybe selling them into a hyperinflation crackup where a cup of coffee will run $50
The new Naish S25’s are getting a lot of positive reviews. No boom but ultra stiff (you can actually pump em up to 9-10 psi), fast, and really stable over wide wind range. Might be the new gold standard compared to the F-One or Duotone

That’s what I had read/seen on the S25 and ordered a 4.6m. Just need to be allowed out of my house to use it
