The Duotone Wing

I have now had two weekends of mucking around on the duotone 5m wing and it is a heap of fun. I have not as yet gybed, tacked or successfully ridden toeside. But I have been able to go upwind and ride the little lake waves downwind and get that wonderfully lift that a big foil wind can give.

I was expecting it to be a limiting experience compared to kiting and kitefoiling in general, but I have been surprised to find I have the same fun level. So much so, that I gave 20 knots of jumping wind to go batwing'ing instead.
Sat 6km, Sun 11km.

All I can say is expect a satisfying physical workout. Your arms and shoulders will be sore.

I think the little but not to hard (compared to windsurfing) workout is an important point. Motivated by this I also started to just ride unhooked with my drift kites, which is similar but not the same as lack of control over wings pitch which you just have with a foil wing.

@Gunnar: Thanks anyway, it was also my result. I think the shapers in Hawaii already found good shapes (very fat but small outlines) but there not yet accessible, especially not in Europe.

Even if I always had doupt about inflatables in this case the demands (slow riding, fat shape, etc.) may fit better than in any other diciplin so I ordered this one and will report compared to hardboards if it is just crap or usable, at least outline, volume, strap and foil conector seems to fit pretty well for my demands, ... and unfortunately the pump I have to carry for the wings anyway.

Had now my around 5th session, starting to switch inbetween mono and stabifoil to see what I will like more. Also started tacks which also felt pretty easy and also here around Nr. 3 was full flying, therefore allowed imediately to also do 360
Maybe didn't have perfect hand technic yet, but just wonder how (less) compfortable this could be with just hand straps instead of the duotone boom. Will try those wings one day for sure.

Yesterday was my first session with some moments of comfortable foil time. Pumping in the wind swells, little turns, this is going to be fun. One thing very noticable: once up on foil, it is way less pressure on arms, shoulders, hands. Much like my experience learning windsurfing, trying to figure out where to get enough power to get on a plane leads to the death grip and attempting to out muscle the wind. But when you feel the surface tension release, it's so much less pull -- and then the wing just sits there, you pull a little to gain power as needed ... kinda like a kite bar while foiling. Higher wind is definitely easier, wing pulls you up as much as it does forward. In lulls, I was able to give a few pumps with the wing, just enough added power to stay up on foil.

after 2 month found the time to cut a video of my experience with the duotone wings.

After many times, also during sessions, of attaching and detaching stabi, I am now pretty sure that I prefer to ride it as monofoil. One additional reasons for that compared to kiting is, that you will significantly feel the extra drag produced by the stabi in your arms.
