Liquid Force Galaxy sharp nose - safety issue

My Galaxy board with the Impulse foil catches chop after a fall and advances slowly towards me often(surface level). Last time it came out of nowhere and hit me in the face resulting with a small cut but could have knocked a teeth easily as the chimed rails pattern is present in the nose too(why?!)

How do you suggest handling this issue?
Perhaps a surf co nose guard for long board would do.

I do that, but still, you don't want a sharp edged board hunting you while you recover.
I think it is relevant only to part of the setups out there:
The large wing makes it catch the waves downwind and the chimed nose makes it concentrate all of the force to a sharp edge.

Put some think waterproof tape on the nose of the board. or some spare deckpad.

i ride the galaxy and have never had this issue. I dont think its the board. I ride the 633 moses.

After a fall, I consciously pause before looking back to the board.

Use a helmet as you got the problem now, learn to fall and avert, and learn to know where your board is.

This can take years though, but it will come in time.

Even when we think we know how to, as we think we are never close, it suddenly WILL happen, so be aware and dont fall asleep

I use a helmet, I foil pretty well, I am aware of the board's location at all time,but this one time it caught me by surprise and hit me in the face, so for those rare cases I think a nose guard is great.

Not hijacking your thread......and Surfco nose guards WILL BE your temporary answer.
Dave is the owner at Surfco and he is a great guy--- give them a call.

Spacestick and CUSH boards have soft memory foam rails which are then wrapped in a foam skin and urethaned over.
The rail isn't exactly soft like a pillow ---but similar to getting hit by an inflated rubber ball....much softer than glass.

Still smacks but a little sting....but won't be likely to knock you out or crack ribs and teeth etc.

Technology has provided answers to this issue---- no desire to buy a hard glass board ever again....surfing, foiling or kiting

My carbon foil (Liquid Force Impulse) stays on its side and just bobs in place when I crash. Then it slowly sinks and eventually comes down wind.

That "carbon" foil (large LF Impulse carbon wingset, carbon fuse, AL mast, lightweight composite 4'8" galaxy foilboard -- still ends up being a >5kg assembly) chased me down last weekend. No helmet; blood everywhere. It was my first occurrence of a head strike in my 42 foil sessions thusfar.
